Driver R Close admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that he used his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $250.

SWEET DREAMS - broke leaving the final bend after making contact with the sulky wheel of OAKLEY SHARD which shifted ground outwards, losing its chance. Stewards opened and adjourned an enquiry into this matter due to drivers R Close (SWEET DREAMS) and S Tomlinson (OAKLEY SHARD) having left the course. A subsequent investigation was also opened and adjourned regarding both drivers failing to attend a hearing in the Stewards room despite being requested to do so after the race.
