Driver R Cameron admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that he used his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home. After viewing the replays and hearing penalty submissions the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Cameron's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 8 May up to and including 12 May 2024 (2 days).

When questioned regarding the performance driver J Cox advised the gelding had worked hard through the early and middle stages and had over-raced which had taken its toll.

TROJAN PRINCESS - hampered in the score up by a breaking runner however was in position at the start. Stewards questioned drivers D Dolan (TROJAN PRINCESS) and G O'Reilly (BITTER SWEET) regarding an incident near the 1600m when BITTER SWEET had to be restrained resulting in an easing of the pace with trailing runners being hampered to varying degrees. After viewing the replays and hearing from both drivers it was established that Mr O'Reilly had attempted to shift his runner inwards to obtain the trail however as PURE COURAGE had improved to his inside he was obliged to remain in the one out line with his horse then commencing to over-race and becoming awkwardly placed close to the wheel of TROJAN PRINCESS which had raced greenly when improving ahead of his runner. After considering the matter Stewards were unable to apportion blame to any one horse or driver and accordingly no further action was deemed necessary.

When questioned regarding the performance driver S Ottley advised she was disappointed with the effort and the mare had paced roughly on several occasions. Stood down for the mandatory 30 days with a veterinary clearance including the results of an endoscopic examination required prior to completing one satisfactory trial before resuming.

Held up middle stages of the run home and shifted ground outwards near the 75m crowding DASHING MAJOR with outside runners being hampered. Driver R Close admitted a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly when shifting ground and after viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Close's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 9 February up to and including 17 February 2024 (3 days).

TANZANIA - held up leaving the final bend and in the early and middle stages of the run home with driver R May advising he did not activate the removable deafeners in consequence. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Stewards questioned Mr May regarding the tactics he adopted passing the 800m when electing to shift inwards and improve his position on the marker line. Mr May advised the gelding had hung inwards and paced roughly rounding the first bend and again on the bend near the 900m with the horse losing ground. Mr May added he felt his best option was to shift inwards and save ground rather than remain in the running line and attempt to improve wide on the final bend given the horse was under pressure to maintain its position at that time and had been hanging inwards on the bends. After considering the matter, Stewards were satisfied Mr May's actions were not unreasonable in the circumstances and took the matter no further.
