Trainer M Jones advised Stewards on 15 April that RUSH has had its fetlocks treated since last racing.

RUSH - connections advised the mare has had its joints treated since last racing. Broke passing the 200m and continued on in a break across the finish line. Stewards lodged a protest against 3rd placing being awarded under Rule 870(3) and the Breaking Horses Regulation alleging the mare had broken in excess of 50m inside the final 200m. Connections did not contest the protest and RUSH was disqualified by the Stewards. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare.

When questioned regarding the performance driver S Thornley advised the mare had been unsuited to racing in the parked position in its first start back after a spell. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a high heart rate and slow recovery. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
