After questioning drivers S Thornley (MIKKO KOIVU) and R Anderson (GRETTYMAC) and viewing the films Stewards were unable to apportion blame onto any one driver or horse however both drivers were advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances in future.

The start was delayed after the horses had commenced coming out of the pre-race formation when there was a gear issue with ONE EL resulting in the horses which had scored up being positioned close to the gate when having to wait for ONE EL. A false start was then declared after ASPIRATIONAL DREAM broke late in the score up and shifted outwards inconveniencing an outside runner. Driver J Morrison elected to remain in his allocated barrier position for the restart.

LOTUS FRANCO - fractious prior to the start. Raced wide early. Hampered by a breaking runner near the 1400m. Weakened final bend. When questioned regarding the performance driver G Thornley advised the mare had hung throughout causing her difficulty. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a high respiratory rate and slow recovery. Connections advised they would have their stable veterinarian examine the horse in the coming days. Stewards will follow up the results.
