Driver C Negus admitted a charge under Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that she used her whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home. After viewing replays and considering submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $300.

FOVEAUX GAMBLER - lay inwards shortly after the start and became awkwardly placed to the outside of THE BETTOR MAJOR. Hampered by a breaking runner near the 800m. Driver J Young-Grant reported a sulky tyre deflated during the running.

RUBY'S A DELIGHT - shifted outwards and contacted the wheel of FOVEAUX GAMBLER near the 500m and broke with trailing runners being severely checked. Driver W Frost admitted a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly near the 500m when allowing his horse to shift outwards when activating gear and contact the sulky wheel of FOVEAUX GAMBLER and break resulting in trailing runners being severely checked with driver K McClintock being dislodged from the sulky of EVIDENTLY. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Frost's Amateur Driver's licence from the conclusion of racing tonight up to and including 17 April 2025 (4 months).

Shifted inwards near the 100m when driver G Thornley activated the removable deafeners crowding an inside runner. Stewards questioned Miss Thornley in relation to this incident and after considering her explanation and viewing the replays a warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding. Miss Thornley advised she would be recommending gear changes. Notwithstanding this Miss Thornley was also spoken to advisedly for the manner in which she drove near the 100m.

A post-race veterinary examination revealed a high heart rate and slow recovery. Mr Howe advised he will have blood tests taken from the filly in the coming days and Stewards will follow up the results.

A warning was placed on the racing record of the filly. Driver B Orange advised he would be recommending a change of bit.

Stewards questioned Junior driver J Dunn (assisted by S Tomlinson) regarding the manner he drove between the 500m and the 400m of particular concern was his decision not to shift ground outwards when clearance existed prior to being covered by outside runners. Mr. Dunn advised that runners had improved rapidly with his mare causing him some difficulty at this point. He further added that shortly after he was hampered by a breaking runner and had this not occurred a run would have been available . After hearing from all parties and viewing the replays, Stewards advised Mr. Dunn not to leave his drives open to query in future when assessing this Stewards took into account Mr. Dunn's inexperience.
