COMMANDER JOE - Stewards investigated a perceived breach of the Push Out Rule near the 1600m after COMMANDER JOE briefly raced wider on the track when FIVE CROWNS shifted ground outwards. After speaking to driver M Williamson (COMMANDER JOE) and viewing the replays it was established driver B Orange (FIVE CROWNS) had commenced his outward movement prior to COMMANDER JOE reaching his sulky wheel and no further action was deemed necessary.

Attempted to improve three wide for a distance passing the 1700m however was unable to muster enough speed and was then restrained to the rear of the field approaching the 1200m. Weakened from the 1000m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had suffered an atrial fibrillation. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance including the results of an ECG before completing one trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to resuming.

JACK TAR - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver H Sail. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. When questioned regarding the improved performance connections advised the gelding had been suited to racing close to the pace after improving to the parked position through the middle stages. Junior driver H Sail (who declined assistance from a Senior driver) admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that he used his whip in a continuous manner in the run home. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty, the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Sail's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 13 December up to and including 17 December 2024 (2 days).
