Mr May admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that he used his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion early in the run home. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $250.

Shifted out near the 50m checking JUST FOXIN (T Williams) which paced roughly after striking the sulky wheel of MELTON MAGNATE. Driver R May defended a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) alleging he drove carelessly when shifting ground and checking an outside runner. After viewing the replays and hearing evidence from Stewards and both drivers the Adjudicative Committee found the charge proved and imposed a fine of $300.

SOPHIA BROMAC - hampered by a breaking runner near the 300m. Had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the run home. Stewards questioned Junior driver J Dunn (assisted by S Tomlinson) regarding the manner he drove between the 500m and the 400m of particular concern was his decision not to shift ground outwards when clearance existed prior to being covered by outside runners. Mr. Dunn advised that runners had improved rapidly with his mare causing him some difficulty at this point. He further added that shortly after he was hampered by a breaking runner and had this not occurred a run would have been available . After hearing from all parties and viewing the replays, Stewards advised Mr. Dunn not to leave his drives open to query in future when assessing this Stewards took into account Mr. Dunn's inexperience.
