MELTON MAGNATE - driver R May advised he was unable to activate the removable deafeners or sliding blinds due to the cord breaking. Mr May admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that he used his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion early in the run home. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $250.

Shifted out near the 50m checking JUST FOXIN (T Williams) which paced roughly after striking the sulky wheel of MELTON MAGNATE. Driver R May defended a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) alleging he drove carelessly when shifting ground and checking an outside runner. After viewing the replays and hearing evidence from Stewards and both drivers the Adjudicative Committee found the charge proved and imposed a fine of $300.

Junior driver O Thornley (assisted by J Dunn) admitted a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) in that she drove carelessly approaching the first bend after shifting ground when insufficiently clear of OPO which had to be restrained. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty, the Adjudicative Committee suspended Miss Thornley's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 10 May up to and including 17 May 2024 (3 days).
