BRETT'S MATE - shifted outwards leaving the final bend briefly locking wheels with A FINE PATRICK which broke losing its chance. Stewards questioned drivers J Dunn (A FINE PATRICK) and K Cameron (BRETT'S MATE) regarding this matter where it was established that Mr Cameron had shifted outwards in a gradual and acceptable manner, however, A FINE PATRICK had hung inwards and proved difficult for Mr Dunn to shift wider on the track to accommodate the manoeuvre. After viewing the replays and considering both drivers explanation Stewards could not apportion blame on either driver and took the matter no further.

ZOLTAN BOSCIK - broke near the 2300m hampering a trailing runner losing ground. Trotted roughly on several occasions during the running losing ground and was retired from the race by driver J Curtin. When questioned regarding the performance Mr Curtin advised the gelding had felt uncomfortable in its action and lost the near hind shoe near the 1500m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.

Stewards lodged a protest against 4th placing being awarded under Rule 870(3) and the Breaking Horses Regulation alleging the gelding had broken in excess of 50m inside the final 200m. After viewing the replays the connections did not contest the protest and TYRON EROS was disqualified by the Stewards.
