MACHO MAN - struck the sulky wheel of A REASON TO FIGHT near the 2100m which punctured. Authorisation of 3rd placing being awarded to MACHO MAN was withheld until driver S McNally (A REASON TO FIGHT) placed 4th, confirmed his chances had not been affected and he did not wish to proceed with a protest. Driver S Ottley admitted a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) in that she drove carelessly in this incident and after viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $250.

WHISPERING MAJESTIC - the murphy blind was removed prior to the start after becoming damaged in the preliminary. Broke passing the 250m and failed to settle. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding. Stewards lodged a protest against the promoted 4th placing being awarded to the gelding under Rule 870(3) and the Breaking Horses Regulation alleging WHISPERING MAJESTIC had broken in excess of 50m inside the final 200m. After viewing the replays driver J Morrison did not contest the protest and WHISPERING MAJESTIC was disqualified by the Stewards. Mr Morrison reported he would be recommending gear changes.

Trotted roughly in the early stages of the run home and then when being heavily restrained near the 150m contacted the sulky of GO HOME DENISE. Stewards questioned driver A Tomlinson in relation to the manner she drove near the 150m. Mrs Tomlinson advised that she was having difficulty with her horse and when attempting to restrain the gelding was unable to maneuver the horse around GO HOME DENISE when runners were positioned to either side. Mrs Tomlinson added that she would be making gear changes prior to BILLY KIMBER racing next. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
