STEALERS WHEEL - had to be steadied near the 1500m when becoming awkwardly placed to the sulky of VICTOR BRAVO. Driver M Hay was warned for using his whip in a continuous manner in the run home.

IDOLOU - paced roughly for a stride near the 300m when awkwardly placed to the sulky of STEALERS WHEEL which was shifting out off the back of VICTOR BRAVO which also shifted ground outwards at this point. Driver L Hibell (IDOLOU) was shown the replay and spoken to advisedly in relation to the manner in which she drove in this incident. When questioned subsequent to the meeting Trainer N Chilcott could offer no explanation for the disappointing run but advised that the mare had recovered well and would fill its engagement on the second day.

When questioned Driver T Mitchell advised that he had felt that the gelding had commenced to choke down so took this runner clear of the field for safety reasons. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormality. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners.

Trainer J Young (SPIRITED PEGGY - 2nd place) declined the opportunity to protest and all clear was then given on the Judge's placings.
