GOTTA ELECT BILL - attempted to pull up near the 1200m when leading resulting in an easing of the pace hampering trailing runners. A protest was lodged against 1st placing being awarded under Rule 869(7B) alleging the gelding had gained an advantage by racing inside the final track marker prior to the passing lane. After viewing the replays and hearing evidence from Stewards and driver W House the Adjudicative Committee dismissed the protest. Mr House was issued a warning for allowing his horse to race inside a track marker.

LORD DELMAR - paced roughly in the score up. Held up rounding the final turn and then paced roughly passing the 200m after contacting the sulky wheel of BLUE CHIP LOU which lay in despite the efforts of Driver S Doody. It was established that LORD DELMAR had lay out marginally and contributed to the incident with no further action deemed necessary.

LORD DELMAR - commenced to over-race early after showing gate speed. Continued to over-race down the back the first time and was taken up the track before being restrained to the rear. Continued to over-race middle stages and in particular when C U THERE improved to its outside passing the 1000m.

LORD DELMAR - hampered shortly after the start. Over-raced middle stages. Held up early and middle stages of the run home and as a result driver W House didn't activate the deafeners.

DELTA KILO - when questioned regarding his decision to shift away from the leader FRANCO HOFFMAN's back near the 200m Driver W House stated that DELTA KILO had been causing him some difficulty when laying in so he felt it was a better option to shift out on to the back of the improving BLUE CHIP LOU rather than risk contacting the sulky wheel of FRANCO HOFFMAN that appeared to be under pressure. Mr House added that with hindsight he may have been better served to have looked to regain the lead midrace.

RED RACKHAM - raced keenly middle stages. Junior Driver Z Meredith, assisted by P Ferguson, admitted a charge under Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that he used his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion over the final stages of the run home. After viewing the replays and hearing penalty submissions the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Meredith's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing tonight up to and including the 17 September 2024 (4 days).
