When questioned Driver B Butcher could only attribute the run to having worked early to obtain the lead and receiving midrace pressure. Trainer M Berger advised that he would consider making a gear change for the second day.

HA'PENNY - paced roughly passing the 100m after contacting the sulky wheel of LORD DELMAR when racing erratically. Driver A Poutama confirmed that the mare had turned its head both ways at various stages during the running and would be recommending a gear change to connections.

HA'PENNY - Driver J Abernethy was charged under Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that he used his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home. The matter was adjourned to be heard at the Auckland Trotting Club meeting on the 15 March due to Mr Abernethy having travel commitments.
