CAPTAIN KOBE - checked by a breaking runner after 100m. Raced wide early. Driver G Sugars was issued a warning for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home. When questioned regarding the performance Mr Sugars advised the gelding had raced lethargically and he was disappointed with the effort. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a high heart rate and slow recovery. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.

BROOKSIDE GIRL - raced wide early before crossing to the parked position near the 1500m. Stewards questioned Junior Drivers M Ranger (BROOKSIDE GIRL), assisted by S Butcher, and F Schumacher (COMMANDER LINCOLN), who elected not to have the assistance of a Senior driver, regarding an incident near the 200m when COMMANDER LINCOLN paced roughly when being shifted wider by BROOKSIDE GIRL. It was established that COMMANDER LINCOLN had been slow to react to Mr Schumacher's efforts to accommodate the shift which was carried out in an acceptable manner and no further action was deemed necessary.

A warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners. Shifted out near the 150m and then paced roughly before shifting out again passing the 100m. Authorisation of this runner's 4th placing was withheld until Driver P Ferguson (MIKI'S MOMENT - 5th placing) confirmed that his chances had not been affected.
