IVAN THE GREAT - broke briefly shortly after the start hampering a trailing runner. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Hampered by a slight easing of the pace and over-raced for a distance passing the 1500m causing driver A Edge difficulty and shifted outwards near the 1350m forcing SWEET SPIRIT to race wider on the track. Lay inwards for a distance and paced roughly when being shifted wider on the track near the 950m. Again lay inwards rounding the final bend causing driver A Edge difficulty and struck the sulky wheel of ARCHIE and broke and shifted inwards checking EVIDENTLY which fell dislodging driver K McClintock. Stood down to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on one occasion prior to resuming.

After viewing the replays and hearing penalty submissions the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Sharpe's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing tonight up to and including 14 September 2023 (4 weeks).
