JACCKA BAYLIS - weakened final turn. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have superficial lacerations to both hind legs that required treatment. Stood down pending a Veterinary clearance prior to resuming. When questioned regarding the performance Driver W House advised the gelding had become unsettled when contacting its own sulky wheel discs so he felt his best option was to work forward in an attempt to gain the lead, however Driver J Abernethy (EAGLE HANOVER) had been intent on holding the front with JACCKA BAYLIS then racing without cover for the remainder.

Subsequent to this call Mr Meredith was located on course and served with drug testing paperwork but refused to provide a sample. An investigation has been opened and adjourned into this matter with Mr Meredith's driver's licence being suspended effective immediately in accordance with Rule 514(1). When questioned regarding his starting position Mr McKendry stated that the mare had been unable to keep up in the score up and lay in causing him difficulty.
