A final warning was placed on this runner's barrier manners. Paced roughly at the start then again entering the first turn. Weakened final turn. Trainer I Brownlee advised Stewards that the gelding would not compete in an amateur race again in the future. When questioned regarding the tactics he adopted during the middle stages Driver J Brownlee advised that TUGAWAR had commenced to over-race when he initially attempted to restrain to look to take a trail on DESERT DAWN so felt it was his best option to not persist with attempting to surrender the position as he was concerned that the gelding may become fierce and choke down. Stewards noted Mr Brownlee's comments and the performance.

DESERT DAWN then raced in restricted room before contacting the sulky wheel of COMMANDER LINCOLN passing the 100m and paced roughly for several strides. In considering this matter Stewards took in to account that there had been movement from both COMMANDER LINCOLN and MIDFREW LUCRE which contributed to this incident.
