PATRICK MAHOMES - held up over the final stages of the run home. When questioned regarding his decision not to shift wide early in the home straight to secure clear running Driver Z Butcher stated that the gelding had lay in rounding the turn when he activated the deafeners and improved to the inside of RUBY RIDGE which he had been trailing so he felt his best option then was to look for a run through the middle rather than lose momentum by attempting to restrain and come around that runner. Stewards noted Mr Butcher's comments and took the matter no further.

It was subsequently established that the tyre had punctured when contacted by the trailing BARSUKOV in the incident near the 750m with no further action being deemed necessary.

When questioned regarding the performance Trainer/Driver L Chin stated that the gelding had not been travelling well at any stage of the event and could offer no explanation for the disappointing effort.
