Mr Abernethy was issued a warning for his lack of control in this incident. Mr Abernethy advised that the deafeners had failed to activate despite his efforts due to the clip spreading.

JACCKA BAYLIS - weakened final turn. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have superficial lacerations to both hind legs that required treatment. Stood down pending a Veterinary clearance prior to resuming. When questioned regarding the performance Driver W House advised the gelding had become unsettled when contacting its own sulky wheel discs so he felt his best option was to work forward in an attempt to gain the lead, however Driver J Abernethy (EAGLE HANOVER) had been intent on holding the front with JACCKA BAYLIS then racing without cover for the remainder.
