SASSY STAR - authorisation of 3rd placing was withheld after this mare shifted down into the passing lane over the final stages of the run home. After questioning Driver M McKendry and viewing the replays Stewards were satisfied that no unfair advantage had been gained over the 4th placed BARSUKOV and placings were duly authorised. Mr McKendry was warned to make a greater effort to prevent his drive shifting into the passing lane given similar circumstances in the future. Mr McKendry advised that he would be recommending a gear change to connections.

SASSY STAR - Driver Z Meredith was replaced by M McKendry after a phone call to Stewards from Mr Meredith advising that he was unable to attend the meeting due to transport difficulties. Subsequent to this call Mr Meredith was located on course and served with drug testing paperwork but refused to provide a sample. An investigation has been opened and adjourned into this matter with Mr Meredith's driver's licence being suspended effective immediately in accordance with Rule 514(1). When questioned regarding his starting position Mr McKendry stated that the mare had been unable to keep up in the score up and lay in causing him difficulty.

A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. Junior Driver N Balle, assisted by Z Butcher, admitted a charge under Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that she used her whip in a continuous manner in the run home. After viewing the replays and hearing penalty submissions the Adjudicative Committee suspended Ms Balle's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing today up to and including the 14 March 2025 (2 days).
