Date / Club / Race Desc / Barrier Draw in brackets and horse time
The start was delayed 2 minutes at the request of Raceday Control. There was a further 8 minute delay due to a false start being declared at the first attempt when KEVIN KLINE broke in the score up and shifted out puncturing the sulky tyre of SPIRIT OF WAIHEKE. A warning was placed on KEVIN KLINE's barrier manners. The start was further delayed when INFAMEE had to return to the stabling area to have the sulky replaced after a tyre deflated. Driver N Delany (KEVIN KLINE) elected to remain in his allocated barrier position for the restart.
LEO LINCOLN - shifted up the track in the run home despite the efforts of Driver P Ferguson hampering an outside runner. Authorisation of this runner's 1st placing was withheld until Stewards were satisfied that the outcome of the race had not been affected in this incident.
LE MAJOR - raced wider briefly near the 1450m after LEO LINCOLN shifted out from the marker line. It was established that Driver P Ferguson (LEO LINCOLN) had commenced his shift prior to LE MAJOR reaching his sulky wheel and no further action was deemed necessary.
TREACHEROUS BABY - out of position at the start. Driver B Wilkins was issued a warning. Held up final bend. Miss Wilkins will be spoken to in the coming days regarding the manner she drove when activating gear in the run home.
TREACHEROUS BABY - when questioned regarding the performance driver J Cox advised he was not disappointed with the effort given it was only the mare's second start from a spell and he expected the horse would derive considerable benefit from the race.

CALORIEFREE - Stewards investigated a possible breach of the Push Out Rule near the 1750m when this runner appeared to force TIGHT LINES to race wider on the track, however after the viewing replays it was established that Driver T Macfarlane (CALORIEFREE) had commenced his outwards movement prior to TIGHT LINES (T Herlihy) reaching his sulky wheel and simultaneously raced greenly causing Mr Macfarlane some difficulty. Date / Club / Race Desc / Barrier Draw in brackets and horse time
The start was delayed at the first attempt when EYRE I WILL was fractious and breached the barrier. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier manners.
SANINARMBRO - Stewards investigated a possible breach of the Push Out Rule near the 1100m when EYRE I WILL shifted out from the running line. It was established that Driver S Abernethy (EYRE I WILL) had commenced his outward movement prior to SANINARMBRO, which was improving wider on the track, reaching his sulky wheel and no further action was deemed necessary. Raced keenly middle stages.
ITAINTNECESSARILYSO - broke near the 1100m and settled near the 1025m. Stewards lodged a protest against this runner's 2nd placing firstly under Rule 869A(2) on the grounds of alleged interference to the 4th placed EYRE I WILL by virtue of that runner being obliged to race wide when unable to cross the breaking ITAINTNECESSARILYSO and secondly under Rule 870(2)(c) on the grounds that ITAINTNECESSARILYSO had gained an advantage over EYRE I WILL when failing to lose ground whilst in the break. After viewing the replays and hearing evidence from all parties, the Adjudicative Committee dismissed the protest.
A false start was declared at the first attempt when the front barrier failed to clear EYRE I WILL which was fractious prior to the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
PARAMOUNT LADY - trotted roughly and broke rounding the final bend checking a trailing runner losing ground. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare. Driver S Ottley reported she sustained a punctured sulky tyre near the 700m.
ILLICIT LOVE - Junior Driver C Hackett (assisted by S Phelan) admitted a charge under Rule 869(3)(b) in that she drove carelessly near the 1200m when shifting ground inwards causing interference to MEMORIES which broke. After viewing the replays and hearing penalty submissions the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $450.
ILLICIT LOVE - hampered by a breaking runner entering the first bend. Driver C Hackett reported that she sustained a punctured sulky tyre entering the first bend.
SANS AU REVOIR - underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Slow early losing ground. Driver H Orange reported that he had been unable to activate the removable deafeners due to the cord becoming entangled.
SANS AU REVOIR - underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no abnormality. When questioned Driver H Orange stated that in his opinion the mare had not backed up from its run on the first day.
CRAZY - pre-race warmed. Raced wide early. Held up for clear racing room throughout the run home and was placed in restricted room near the 100m after an inside runner lay outwards resulting in driver N Chilcott having to steady the gelding.
CRAZY - pre-race warmed. Lay inwards rounding the first bend contacting track markers. Driver N Chilcott was warned for crossing her reins and making a celebratory gesture late in the run home.
LOOK TO DA STARS - co-trainers M & N Purdon were issued a $100 Minor Infringement Notice for presenting the gelding to race with removable deafeners which had not been notified.
LOOK TO DA STARS - weakened early in the run home. When questioned regarding the performance driver S Ottley advised that racing parked from the 1800m when fresh up from a spell may have taken its toll on the gelding. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
LOOK TO DA STARS - weakened final bend. When questioned regarding the performance driver B Orange advised he was disappointed with the effort and was unable to provide any explanation. Co-trainer N Purdon advised he will have blood tests taken from the gelding in the coming days and Stewards will follow up the results.
LOOK TO DA STARS - co-trainer N Purdon was issued a $100 Minor Infringement Notice for presenting the gelding to race with fixed deafeners instead of the notified removable deafeners.
SASSY STAR - Junior Driver T Hanara (assisted by S McCaffrey) was shown the replay and warned for the manner in which she drove entering the first turn when shifting ground inwards briefly placing inside runners in restricted room.
For up to & including R56 pacers. Eligible to nominate, horses who ran in the Heats run on 10th & 23rd May 2025. Please Note: The Final will have an Open Draw.
BENJAMIN BUTTON - over-raced middle stages and became awkwardly placed to the sulky of BET WEST placing Driver C Hackett at some disadvantage. Notwithstanding this Driver S Abernethy was spoken to advisedly for trailing too closely. Lay inwards leaving the final turn briefly placing an inside runner in restricted room.
SOUTH SIDE STORY - broke early in the score up and was back from position at the candy pole. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier manners. Driver Z Butcher encountered considerable difficulty in restraining this runner to take a trail rounding the first turn and then again near the 1150m. When questioned Mr Butcher confirmed that this had taken its toll.
ROY KENT - paced roughly near the 300m when becoming awkwardly placed to the sulky of BETTORS ANVIL after Driver T Herlihy activated the removable deafeners.
YOU LITTLE BEAUTY - Driver D Butcher was issued a warning for allowing his mare to shift inwards entering the first turn placing an inside runner in restricted room which contacted a track marker.

When questioned regarding the performance driver S Abernethy advised the gelding had raced lethargically throughout. A post-race veterinary and endoscopic examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
MANCHESTER IN TIME - broke rounding the first turn losing ground. Authorisation of this runner's 2nd placing was withheld until Stewards had reviewed the footage and were satisfied the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation.
QUERCUS RUBRA - hampered by the weakening MANCHESTER IN TIME near the 600m and broke after contacting that runner's sulky wheel losing all chance. Stewards took no action against Driver M Hay given the circumstances.
MANCHESTER IN TIME - hampered and lay in contacting track markers passing the 500m. When questioned regarding the performance Driver J Abernethy stated that the gelding had been unable to make up its 50m handicap given the strong tempo throughout.
HILLBILLY BLUES - checked when contacted by an outside runner at the start with Driver C Hackett becoming unbalanced in the sulky briefly resulting in the gelding then trotting roughly for several strides.
HILLBILLY BLUES - Driver T Herlihy was questioned regarding the manner in which he shifted ground entering the first turn when improving away from the marker line which resulted in BRIENNE appearing to race wider on the track briefly. Mr Herlihy stated that he felt that he had commenced his outward shift prior to BRIENNE reaching the parked position and after viewing the replays Stewards took the matter no further on this occasion. Lay out throughout the run home despite the efforts of Mr Herlihy.

HIGH ENERGY - lay inwards near the 250m placing an inside runner in restricted room. When questioned regarding the performance, Driver Z Butcher advised that he was forced to make an earlier move than intended due to the horse in the parked position weakening, and as a result, his runner was unable to finish the race off strongly. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
JASINOVA - unable to hold the back of WALKINONSUNSHINE near the 1100m which enabled HIGH ENERGY to shift down to fill that position. Locked wheels with an outside runner rounding the final turn.
HIGH ENERGY - Co-Trainers B Purdon & S Phelan were warned for failing to affix mudguards to the sulky. The near hind bandage came adrift during the running however no action was deemed necessary given the track conditions.
IRON LOVE - raced wide early. Stewards lodged a protest against this runner's 4th placing being awarded under Rule 870(3) and the Breaking Horses Regulations alleging the gelding had switched to a pace in excess of 50m inside the final 200m. After viewing the films and hearing evidence from all parties IRON LOVE was disqualified by the Adjudicative Committee.
IRISH WHISPERS - unable to hold the back of the leader DOMINUS entering the back straight the first time when the tempo increased markedly which enabled BARBAROSSA to be steadied and shift down to fill that position.
A false start was declared when the boring pole on DOMINUS came adrift during the score up. Trainer P Miller was issued a $100 Minor Infringement Notice for failing to affix the gear so as not to come adrift.
MIKE ROSS - lay inwards entering the first bend simultaneously to DEAR GOD laying outwards with both runners having to be steadied and corrected by their drivers. Hampered by a weakening runner near the 800m.

LINCOLN LA MOOSE - approval was given for the murphy blind to be removed prior to the start after the gelding failed to warm up favourably. Over-raced middle stages. Held up throughout the run home.
LINCOLN LA MOOSE - lay in contacting several track markers approaching the 1200m. Lay in again contacting a further track marker rounding the final turn. Weakened in the run home. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality.
LINCOLN LA MOOSE - over-raced middle stages. Held up throughout the run home. Driver P Ferguson advised that he didn't activate the removable deafeners in consequence.
J T BOE - broke at the start losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier manners. Paced roughly at various stages throughout. Had difficulty obtaining clear running in the home straight.
J T BOE - broke briefly in the score up but soon settled and was in position at dispatch. Held up for clear running throughout the run home. Driver J Dickie was questioned regarding his decision to remain in the one one position passing the 600m when he had the opportunity to shift out to lead up the three wide line. Mr Dickie stated that the gelding had cast the off fore shoe over the early stages and had raced outside the leader for some distance before receiving cover near the 1300m. He then explained that he felt attempting to improve three wide prior to being covered by MAJOR MAJOR near the 600m may have proved detrimental to his chances given that the gelding does have some difficulty in negotiating the bends. Mr Dickie further stated that he felt IDEAL DELIGHT would be strong enough to take him forward into a position that he could shift wider to secure clear running however this did not eventuate. Stewards noted Mr Dickie's comments.
J T BOE - granted permission by the Starter to parade out with the second row before coming to the mobile early. Paced roughly late in the score up and was back from position at dispatch. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier manners. Paced roughly under pressure over the final stages.
