Raced over track markers and broke entering the first bend losing ground checking and hampering trailing runners. Stewards questioned drivers C Hackett (JAHI), assisted by T Mitchell, F Schumacher (MAJOR BREAK) and H Orange (THE BEACH HOUSE) regarding firstly the crowding prior to racing into the first bend and secondly the breaking entering the first bend. After hearing from all parties and viewing the replays Stewards were unable to apportion blame to any one driver and took the matter no further.

INFAMEE - a middle carrier came adrift during the running. This gear was inspected and found to have been taped with no action being taken against Co-Trainers S & A Telfer accordingly. Lay in having to be steadied rounding the final turn and raced over several track markers. Authorisation of this runner's 4th placing was withheld until Stewards were satisfied that the colt had not gained any unfair advantage in this incident.

There was a further 8 minute delay due to a false start being declared at the first attempt when KEVIN KLINE broke in the score up and shifted out puncturing the sulky tyre of SPIRIT OF WAIHEKE. A warning was placed on KEVIN KLINE's barrier manners. The start was further delayed when INFAMEE had to return to the stabling area to have the sulky replaced after a tyre deflated. Driver N Delany (KEVIN KLINE) elected to remain in his allocated barrier position for the restart.
