SANINARMBRO - Stewards investigated a possible breach of the Push Out Rule near the 1100m when EYRE I WILL shifted out from the running line. It was established that Driver S Abernethy (EYRE I WILL) had commenced his outward movement prior to SANINARMBRO, which was improving wider on the track, reaching his sulky wheel and no further action was deemed necessary. Raced keenly middle stages.

Stewards lodged a protest against this runner's 2nd placing firstly under Rule 869A(2) on the grounds of alleged interference to the 4th placed EYRE I WILL by virtue of that runner being obliged to race wide when unable to cross the breaking ITAINTNECESSARILYSO and secondly under Rule 870(2)(c) on the grounds that ITAINTNECESSARILYSO had gained an advantage over EYRE I WILL when failing to lose ground whilst in the break. After viewing the replays and hearing evidence from all parties, the Adjudicative Committee dismissed the protest.

Authorisation of 2nd placing was withheld until Stewards were satisfied that the result of QUEEN ELIDA racing inside the last track marker was due to MUSCLE MOUNTAIN laying inwards and there was a clear run prior to this occurring with placings duly authorised.

Driver C Alford admitted a charge under Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that he used his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion rounding the final bend. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Alford's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 13 April up to and including 19 April 2025 (5 days) and imposed a fine of $500.
