Authorisation of 2nd placing was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the gelding had not gained an advantage when racing inside track markers. When assessing this Stewards took into account the margin between 2nd and 3rd placing. Driver S Phelan was issued a $100 Minor Infringement Notice for not taking corrective action prior to contacting a track marker.

VORONOV - held up early final turn. Driver D Butcher was warned for contacting track markers prior to the entrance to the passing lane. Raced over further track markers passing the 100m after becoming awkwardly placed to the sulky of KAIPAKI JACK which had locked sulky stays with AMERICAN MUSCLE. Stewards noted the circumstances and took the matter no further.

Junior Driver M Ranger (assisted by B Hackett) defended a charge under Rule 869(3)(b) in that she drove carelessly racing into the first turn by allowing her gelding to shift inwards when not sufficiently clear resulting in VORONOV (L Chin) being checked and breaking. After hearing the relative evidence and viewing the replays the Adjudicative Committee found the charge proved and suspended Ms Ranger's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing tonight up to and including 4 March 2025 (2 days).

It was established that Driver S Abernethy (EYRE I WILL) had commenced his outward movement prior to SANINARMBRO, which was improving wider on the track, reaching his sulky wheel and no further action was deemed necessary. Raced keenly middle stages.

Stewards lodged a protest against this runner's 2nd placing firstly under Rule 869A(2) on the grounds of alleged interference to the 4th placed EYRE I WILL by virtue of that runner being obliged to race wide when unable to cross the breaking ITAINTNECESSARILYSO and secondly under Rule 870(2)(c) on the grounds that ITAINTNECESSARILYSO had gained an advantage over EYRE I WILL when failing to lose ground whilst in the break. After viewing the replays and hearing evidence from all parties, the Adjudicative Committee dismissed the protest.
