BOOT SCOOTIN BOOGIE - over-raced early and middle stages before being taken up the track and retired from the event near the 1200m. When questioned Driver J Dickie advised that he felt that this runner had commenced to choke down. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. A warning was placed on the mare's racing manners.

BOOT SCOOTIN BOOGIE - checked and broke near the 1400m hampering trailing runners before settling. Driver J Brownlee was warned for failing to take his breaking runner clear of trailing runners when the opportunity existed. Mr Brownlee admitted a charge under Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that he used his whip free of the rein on one occasion and with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home. After viewing the replays and hearing penalty submissions the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $300.

BOOT SCOOTIN BOOGIE - weakened from the 500m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. Driver J Brownlee was warned for using his whip when out of contention and also with more than a wrist flicking motion. Mr Brownlee was also queried regarding his tactics over the early and middle stages when, after having worked hard when attempting to hold the early lead, he then allowed his mare to race clear in the lead down the back straight on the first occasion when he had the opportunity to steady the tempo so as to give his runner some respite. Mr Brownlee stated that although this was BOOT SCOOTIN BOOGIE's first start back from a spell the mare had trialed on four occasions and felt that she should of been competitive with the sectionals recorded. After considering the matter Stewards issued a warning on this occasion and advised Mr Brownlee that he would be expected to show better judgment given similar circumstances in the future.

MIKE ROSS - Stewards investigated a possible breach of the Push Out Rule entering the first turn when MIKE ROSS raced wider on the track after CHANGE TACT shifted out from the marker line. After viewing the replays it was established that Driver T Herlihy (CHANGE TACT) had commenced his outward movement prior to MIKE ROSS (P Ferguson) reaching his sulky wheel and no further action was deemed necessary. Briefly placed in restricted room leaving the final turn.

Stewards questioned drivers J Dunn (ALLETS) and C Ferguson (ARAFURA) regarding this incident and after viewing the films Stewards were satisfied no one driver was at fault and took the matter no further.

Stewards questioned Junior Drivers M Ranger (BROOKSIDE GIRL), assisted by S Butcher, and F Schumacher (COMMANDER LINCOLN), who elected not to have the assistance of a Senior driver, regarding an incident near the 200m when COMMANDER LINCOLN paced roughly when being shifted wider by BROOKSIDE GIRL. It was established that COMMANDER LINCOLN had been slow to react to Mr Schumacher's efforts to accommodate the shift which was carried out in an acceptable manner and no further action was deemed necessary.
