HILLBILLY BLUES - trotted roughly rounding the final turn. Had difficulty obtaining clear racing room early in the run home before being held up over the final 50m. When questioned regarding his decision not to shift out from a position three back on the markers near the 1300m prior to being covered by KEEP IT KLASSY Driver T Herlihy stated that he elected not to shift out at this stage as his runner was not handling the bends as he would have liked and felt that the gelding would have been left without cover for the remainder as the lead, which was being held by MAZEPPA, would not have been available.

KEEP IT KLASSY - raced wider on the track briefly near the 1500m after HILLBILLY BLUES shifted ground outwards. It was established that Driver T Herlihy (HILLBILLY BLUES) had commenced his outward movement prior to KEEP IT KLASSY reaching his sulky wheel and no further action was deemed necessary.

Stewards investigated a possible breach of the Push Out Rule however after viewing the replays it was established that Driver Z Meredith had commenced his shift prior to ITBETTERBENOW reaching his sulky wheel and no further action was deemed necessary.

After questioning Driver M McKendry and viewing the replays Stewards were satisfied that no unfair advantage had been gained over the 4th placed BARSUKOV and placings were duly authorised. Mr McKendry was warned to make a greater effort to prevent his drive shifting into the passing lane given similar circumstances in the future. Mr McKendry advised that he would be recommending a gear change to connections.
