LUKAKU - hampered when locking stays briefly with an inside runner early in the run home. Driver J Darby admitted a charge under Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that he used his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home. After viewing the replays and hearing penalty submissions the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Darby's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing today up to and including the 4 April 2025 (2 days).

The gelding then refused to follow the mobile in the initial stages of the score up with a false start being declared when it swung around getting a sulky shaft across its rump. SEACLUSION - broke near the 1400m after successfully contesting for a position on the back of HOORAY HENRY losing ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days. Stewards questioned drivers J Stormont (SEACLUSION) and T Herlihy (DAWSON) regarding this incident. Mr Stormont advised that his mare had paced roughly at stages throughout the event including shortly after this incident causing the horse to break briefly. After hearing from drivers and viewing the films Stewards were in agreeance that it was a racing incident with no further action deemed necessary.

MARKETPLACE - when questioned regarding his tactics Driver C Ferguson advised that after having gone forward early he had been left without cover after GOT THE CHOCOLATES shifted to the marker line rounding the first turn so elected to restrain to the rear after the early effort. Mr Ferguson further stated that he then felt that his best option was to remain at the rear as he considered that the lead, which was being held by BETTORS ANVIL, would not have been available and that racing without cover on a wet track may have been to his detriment. He then added that he had followed THE JOLLY ROGER when that runner commenced to improve without cover from the 1200m before then shifting three wide to improve from the 500m but MARKETPLACE had felt rocky when not handling the final turn as well as he would have liked and believed that the gelding may still have won but for this. After considering the matter Mr Ferguson's comments were duly noted.
