Dr Chin reported that the sulky received a punctured tyre when struck by the trailing runner in this incident.

HILLBILLY BLUES - trotted roughly rounding the final turn. Had difficulty obtaining clear racing room early in the run home before being held up over the final 50m. When questioned regarding his decision not to shift out from a position three back on the markers near the 1300m prior to being covered by KEEP IT KLASSY Driver T Herlihy stated that he elected not to shift out at this stage as his runner was not handling the bends as he would have liked and felt that the gelding would have been left without cover for the remainder as the lead, which was being held by MAZEPPA, would not have been available.

KEEP IT KLASSY - raced wider on the track briefly near the 1500m after HILLBILLY BLUES shifted ground outwards. It was established that Driver T Herlihy (HILLBILLY BLUES) had commenced his outward movement prior to KEEP IT KLASSY reaching his sulky wheel and no further action was deemed necessary.
