Stewards lodged a protest under Rule 869A(2) against FERNLEIGH CASH's 1st placing alleging interference to AYE AYE CAPTAIN (Driver M White - 2nd place) throughout the run home. After hearing the relative evidence and viewing the replays the Adjudicative Committee dismissed the protest. Junior Driver K Denifostova, assisted by J Dickie, admitted an associated charge under Rule 869(3)(b) in that she drove carelessly in this incident by allowing her gelding to shift out throughout the run home. After hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $400.

After viewing the replays and hearing penalty submissions the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $200.

Authorisation of 2nd placing was withheld until Stewards questioned Driver D Butcher (KANGO - 4th place) who confirmed that his chances had not been affected. Driver T Herlihy admitted a charge under Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that he used his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home. After hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Herlihy's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on the 12 April up to and including 26 April 2024 (3 days).

LADY OF THE LIGHT - trainer J Young admitted a breach of Rule 823(3) and the Horse Movement Regulation in that he failed to lodge a Horse Movement Notification to trainer S McRae. After hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $300. Raced wide early.

MCKENDRICK - locked wheels with ARTISAN near the 300m losing all chance. Driver B Orange was questioned regarding this incident and advised that he had attempted to follow JOLIMONT when MIKI SHAN shifted wider passing the 400m but MCKENDRICK had lay in when in restricted room which resulted in the locking of wheels with the weakening ARTISAN. Given the circumstances Stewards took the matter no further other than to note the circumstances

MIKI SHAN - lay inwards rounding the final turn contacting several track markers. Driver M McKendry admitted a charge under Rule 869(3)(b) in that he shifted ground inwards near the 600m when not sufficiently clear of MERLIN which had to be restrained thereby losing its racing position. After hearing penalty submissions the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr McKendry's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing tonight up to and including 27 September 2024 (2 days).

After viewing replays and hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee suspended Miss Hackett's driver's licence from conclusion of racing tonight up to and including 20 June 2024 (4 days).

When questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance Co-trainer S Phelan stated that the gelding had raced with little luck in recent starts and had benefited from being saved for one final run.
