JOLIMONT - hampered at the start. Hampered again when having to be steadied near the 1100m. Driver J Stormont had difficulty activating the deafeners early in the run home. When questioned regarding the performance Mr Stormont stated after getting too far back in the running from its 30m handicap the gelding had been unable to make up much ground with the fast closing sectionals.

MO'UNGA - driver R Close advised he did not activate the removable deafeners due to having the field covered.

MO'UNGA - broke at the start losing ground. Held up early in the run home. Stewards questioned driver R Close regarding his tactics rounding the final bend in particular his decision to remain on the back of BEACH BALL when clearance existed for him to shift out near the 550m and again shortly after when being covered by TACT MCLEOD passing the 400m. Mr Close advised that after losing ground at the start he believed it was more beneficial to receive cover into the race at that stage and when he attempted to shift outwards shortly after onto the back of the improving REPUBLICAN PARTY the gelding had hung outwards and paced roughly having to be steadied. After considering his explanation and viewing the films Stewards were satisfied Mr Close's actions were not unreasonable in the circumstances and took the matter no further.

Driver M Purdon admitted a charge under Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that he used his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion and in a continuous manner in the run home. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalties the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Purdon's driver's licence from the 23 April up to and including 16 May 2025 (7 days) and imposed a fine of $1600.

Driver M Purdon admitted a charge under Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly by allowing his runner to shift inwards near the 1400m when not sufficiently clear causing interference to LITTLE SPIKE which broke losing all chance. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Purdon's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 4 April up to and including 22 April 2025 (4 days).

CHASE A DREAM - out of position at the start. Driver B Orange was issued a $100 Minor Infringement Notice. Raced wide from the 1400m. Blundered shortly after the finish line and was immediately restrained by driver B Orange. Attended to by the on course Veterinarian before being transported from the track in the Horse Ambulance. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities with further assessment recommended to be undertaken in the coming days. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance prior to resuming.
