MAZEPPA - over-raced middle stages before commencing to choke down passing the 700m and was taken down onto the infield by Driver C Alford, for safety reasons to clear trailing runners, with the gelding then falling. MAZEPPA was immediately attended to by the on-course Veterinarian with the examination revealing a suspected displaced soft palate and abrasions to the nose area consistent with falling on the track. Mr Alford was uninjured in this incident. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance and required to trial on one occasion prior to resuming. Mr Alford reported the gelding had struck the wheel discs.

HILLBILLY BLUES - Driver T Herlihy was questioned regarding the manner in which he shifted ground entering the first turn when improving away from the marker line which resulted in BRIENNE appearing to race wider on the track briefly. Mr Herlihy stated that he felt that he had commenced his outward shift prior to BRIENNE reaching the parked position and after viewing the replays Stewards took the matter no further on this occasion. Lay out throughout the run home despite the efforts of Mr Herlihy.

When questioned regarding his decision not to shift out from a position three back on the markers near the 1300m prior to being covered by KEEP IT KLASSY Driver T Herlihy stated that he elected not to shift out at this stage as his runner was not handling the bends as he would have liked and felt that the gelding would have been left without cover for the remainder as the lead, which was being held by MAZEPPA, would not have been available.

Driver M McKendry admitted a charge under Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that he used his whip on one occasion free of the rein on the final turn. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr McKendry's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing tonight up to and including 27 January 2025 (3 days).

CON GRAZIA LOVE - contacted the sulky wheel of FEARLESS near the 300m after there was an easing of the pace which resulted in the tyre being punctured and coming off the rim. A protest was lodged under Rule 869A(2) by connections of FEARLESS placed 4th against 3rd placing being awarded to CON GRAZIA LOVE (M McKendry) on the grounds of alleged interference in this incident. After hearing the relative evidence and viewing the replays the Adjudicative Committee dismissed the protest. Stewards took no action against Driver M McKendry in this incident due to the easing of the pace simultaneously to his move outwards.

Stewards lodged a protest against this runner's 4th placing under Rule 870(3) and the Breaking Horses Regulation alleging the gelding had broken in excess of 150m. Connections did not contest the protest and LIAISON was disqualified by Stewards. The bandage on the near hind came adrift early in the run home possibly as a result of contacting track markers with no action being taken.

Broke again passing the 1000m losing all chance.
