Stewards questioned driver N Chalmers regarding his tactics in the early stages of the home straight when electing to shift outwards instead of attempting an inside run. After considering the explanation of Mr Chalmers, Stewards adjourned the matter for further consideration. | |
NIGHT LIGHTS - broke in the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. | |

MAJESTIC SUNSET - shifted into the passing lane in the run home denying full access to the trailing EYRE I GO. Stewards lodged a protest against 2nd placing being awarded to MAJESTIC SUNSET (T Chmiel) alleging interference to EYRE I GO (M Jones) placed 5th. After viewing the films and hearing evidence from Stewards and both drivers, the JCA dismissed the protest. Driver T Chmiel admitted an associated charge under Rule 869(4) and the Passing Lane Regulations in that he failed to allow full access to the passing lane for trailing runners with the JCA imposing a fine of $300. | |
QUAESTOR - raced four wide for a distance passing the 1400 metres. Stewards investigated a perceived breach of the Push Out Rule near the 1400 metres. After viewing the replays it was established that KEN'S DREAM had shifted outwards prior to QUAESTOR reaching its sulky wheel and no further action was deemed necessary. Broke near the 1100 metres. | |
