Race 1   CALTEX GLOVER ROAD/CLEGGS FUNERAL SERVICES HANDICAP TROT
ROYAL CADET - broke shortly after the start but soon settled then raced three wide early. Broke passing the 400 metres losing ground. Broke again near the 250 metres losing further ground before settling.
BULLER WHITEBAIT - broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground. Broke passing the 600 metres losing several lengths before settling.
MANCHESTER ON FIRE - late scratching at 11.45am by order of the Stewards after failing to warm up favourably.
BURT MUNRO - gave ground in the home straight. A subsequent veterinary inspection revealed grade 3 mucus in the trachea which will require veterinary treatment.
WAIT FOR SUCCESS - slow to begin.
AIN'T NO PRINCESS - slow away then broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on this mare's standing start manners. Broke near the 1550 metres losing all chance.
SECRETOFTHESEA SMILE - slow to begin then broke early.
LITTLEBITOFLOVE - broke near the 800 metres losing its chance.
Race 2   EGMONT TYRES 2018/HAWERA AUTO COURT MOBILE PACE
HEAVEN LEE - held up rounding the turn and early in the run home before being angled outwards to gain clear running inside the final 150 metres. Inclined to lay in under pressure over the final stages.
TWO FIFTYEIGHT - over-raced middle stages when trailing the leader. Held up by a tiring runner rounding the final turn.
LADY AMEERA - raced three wide with cover from the 1100 metres.
ZIP CODE - commenced to improve three wide from the 1200 metres then raced four wide from the 1100 metres after FINAL DELIGHT had shifted from the one out running line. It was established that Driver D Butcher (FINAL DELIGHT) had commenced his outward shift prior to ZIP CODE covering its sulky wheel and no further action was deemed necessary.
CASSIS - gave ground quickly near the 600 metres. Subsequently stood down pending a satisfactory trial.
Race 3   ALABAR WEANLINGS SELLING MAY 6TH HANDICAP TROT
MONARCHY INVASION - broke approaching the 1700 metres losing ground. Commenced to weaken near the 600 metres before breaking when inconvenienced near the 300 metres.
GREY STOKE - broke at the start losing considerable ground.
M'LORD MACKENDON - broke near the 500 metres when leading and was taken down inside the marker line to prevent causing interference to trailing runners.
NEED LUCK - improved along the marker line in the middle stages to be handy on the home turn but failed to run on finishing 6th beaten 15 lengths. Trainer D Butcher reported that this was its 3rd race in 5 days and that he would be give the gelding a brief spell. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding was sore in the near fore with a veterinary clearance required prior to resuming.
Race 4   TRY THE HANLEY FORMULA/ROWAN FARMS MOBILE PACE
SONNY REACTOR - paced roughly near the 1500 metres and broke losing ground. Continued to pace roughly throughout before breaking near the 800 metres losing all chance.
SHOT IN THE DARK - broke at the start and broke the near hind hopple loop whilst in the gallop before being retired from the event. This gear was inspected and found to be in satisfactory condition. A warning was placed against the mare's mobile barrier manners.
PROP ROCK - paced roughly rounding the home turn and again under pressure passing the 150 metres.
Race 5   PALAMOUNTAINS/ROYDON WILLIAMS PHOTOGRAPHY MOBILE PACE
MARRERA - broke approaching 600 metres and locked wheels with PHILLYDOTCOM with resultant interference to EXPRESS PLAY and CHARLIE HARPER, with driver A Poutama being tipped from the sulky of EXPRESS PLAY. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners.
JACK BATES - driver K Marshall was spoken to advisedly regarding the manner in which he shifted ground near the 1700 metres when attempting to obtain a position in the one out running line. Checked passing the 600 metres.
PURE DESIRE - raced three wide early and middle stages after unsuccessfully contesting for a position in the one out running line.
LADY SANTANNA - contacted several marker pegs rounding the final turn when weakening.
RANGI RANGDU - checked passing the 600 metres.
ITSOKBEINGBETTER - checked passing the 600 metres.
KNIGHTS DESIRE - held up early final turn.
PHILLYDOTCOM - paced roughly near the 1700 metres when contesting for a position in the one out running line.
CHARLIE HARPER - checked and broke passing the 600 metres losing its chance.
EXPRESS PLAY - checked and lost driver A Poutama passing the 600 metres. Mr Poutama was examined by St John Ambulance staff and cleared to fulfil his remaining engagements.
Race 6   HAPPY 80TH IAN MARTIN/LIFE MEMBERS MOBILE PACE
NOTORIOUS - held up early final turn.
MOTORING MAJOR - raced three then four wide from the 1000 metres.
BELLA ROZA - became unbalanced and galloped travelling over the crossing, losing considerable ground.
SARABI - raced three wide early.
GO GETTA - paced roughly shortly after the start settling towards the rear.
MCDAKNIFE - raced three wide in the early stages. Tired over the final stages.
UNCLE DREW - held up early final turn.
KAROLYI - became unbalanced and galloped travelling over the crossing but soon settled.
AFORTUNADO - raced three wide from the 1200 metres. Removed from the unruly for future mobiles.
Race 7   SOUTH TARANAKI CLUB HAWERA CUP HANDICAP PACE
FLEETING GRIN - held up final turn and early stages of the run home.
MISTER HARRIS - driver K More was spoken to advisedly and warned to correct his whip action.
HUNTER BROMAC - broke at the start and trailed the field throughout.
CRACKARED - slow to begin. Tired from the 700 metres. A post race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormality. Trainer C Wigg advised that the mare had failed to back up from its first day run.
JOHNNY WHITE - broke at start losing considerable ground.
THE NIGHT HAWK - inconvenienced shortly after the start by a breaking runner.
Race 8   SHADS BUFFET MOBILE PACE
LORD SANTANNA - raced three wide in the early stages and weakened out inside the 600 metres.
KATAMACH - raced three wide early and middle stages before crossing to race outside the leader near the 1100 metres. Held up early final turn but only battled when clear.
AIN'T NOTHING BETTOR - raced three wide throughout. Placed in restricted room passing the 300 metres.
WAINGARO MARA - raced four wide from the 900 metres.
ERROL FINN - held up rounding the turn and early stages of the run home.
HEZALUCKYGRINNER - raced wide in the early stages. Raced three wide from inside the 1400 metres.
EL DINERO - raced three wide early and middle stages before crossing to race outside the leader near the 900 metres.
ART COURAGE - raced three wide from the 1000 metres.
Race 9   KALIN CONTRACTING/NZ FARMERS LIVESTOCK MOBILE PACE
NANELLE FRANCO - gave ground quickly from the 700 metres after leading. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare was lame in the near hind with a veterinary clearance required prior to resuming.
J BEE - badly held up behind a tiring runner rounding the final turn.
JETENARA - raced three wide from the 1200 metres.
ELDOLAR - raced three wide in the early stages.
GOTTA MOMENT - over-raced in the middle stages. Held up rounding the final turn.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS - raced three wide from the 1400 metres.
