| MARKETPLACE - held up final bend. When questioned regarding his driving tactics, particularly whether there was an opportunity to shift outwards and race in the parked position near the 1800m, driver C Ferguson explained that he was reluctant to do so given the racing pattern of THE LAZARUS EFFECT which was leading. He believed he would have been left racing parked and with the strong prevailing winds in the back straight he considered this would have been detrimental to his winning chances. He therefore elected to remain on the marker line before utilising the passing lane and finishing strongly in the run home. After considering his explanation and the distance remaining from the finish, Stewards were satisfied that his decision was not unreasonable in the circumstances and took the matter no further. | |
