The adjourned enquiry for an admitted breach of Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations by junior driver S Hill (CATH) for using his whip in a continuous manner in the run home was concluded at this meeting. After viewing replays and hearing submissions on penalty, the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $250.

Race 1   THE FAMOUS GROUSE TROT
The start was delayed when STROMBOLI became fractious and required a sulky change. A further delay occurred when the filly reared and fell to the track. Acting on veterinary advice, STROMBOLI was declared a late scratching and stood down pending one satisfactory trial from a standing start.
JACKS POINT - broke shortly after the start losing all chance.
NATIVES CULLERDAMOON - late scratching at 10.24am on Veterinary advice.
ALDEBARAN LOBELL - considerably fractious prior to the start. Broke at the start losing ground. Authorisation of 1st placing was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation in the early stages.
BRENDA'S JEWEL - broke leaving the final bend losing ground.
DELTORO - broke near the 250m losing its chance.
ROCKY IN PARADISE - broke shortly after the start losing all chance.
Race 2   GAVELHOUSE MOBILE PACE
HARRY'S GOLD - weakened in the run home.
PERAKI LAD - raced wide early.
B K SKY - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver S Thornley. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Over-raced in the early stages when being restrained. Weakened final bend.
CARRERA BRAVO - raced wide from the 800m.
BELLA CIAO - raced wide early.
Race 3   ILLINGWORTH FAMILY TROT
MOERAKI - broke shortly after the start hampering a trailing runner losing ground. Trotted roughly over the concluding stages.
SPEAKEASY - hampered shortly after the start by a breaking runner. Driver B Borcoskie was issued a warning for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home.
MITHALI - hampered by a weakening runner final bend.
PROPELLOR - broke shortly after the start losing ground.
EDDIE THE EAGLE - weakened final bend hampering trailing runners. When questioned regarding the performance driver B Orange advised he was very disappointed with the effort and could offer no explanation. A post-race endoscopy detected a degree of internal exercise-induced pulmonary haemorrhage (EIPH) that may have affected the horse's racing performance. A veterinary clearance will be required prior to racing again.
VALLETTA - hampered by a weakening runner final bend.
SEEKING LOVE - broke at the start hampering a trailing runner losing ground. Broke again on several occasions during the running losing all chance. Stood down to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on one occasion prior to resuming. Connections advised the gelding would be sent for a spell.
ZOE HARBOUR - broke at the start losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
ALLEYESONME - broke at the start losing all chance.
DAZZLED - hampered by a breaking runner at the start before breaking shortly after losing ground.
Race 4   TIMARU MOTORS MOBILE PACE
ROSARIO - over-raced in the score up. Paced roughly entering the first bend.
PREMIER ARDEN - weakened considerably in the run home. When questioned regarding the performance driver T Williams advised he was disappointed with the effort and could provide no explanation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery. An endoscopic examination at the request of connections revealed no abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
BRUNO BRIGADE - paced roughly in the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
SPIRIT OF TUPELO - late scratching at 8.48am on Veterinary advice. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance prior to resuming.
Race 5   THE GOLDEN MILE MOTELS & TAVERN PACE
BOLD EXCUSE - swung sideways at the start checking a trailing runner losing all chance. Placed on the unruly for future standing starts.
JENNIFER ROBYN - driver L O'Reilly was issued a warning for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home.
TATTOOED LADY - broke at the start losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly.
OLYMPIAN - raced wide early.
ATOMIC - checked by a breaking runner at the start losing all chance.
CANDY CRUNCH - trainer R Holmes advised the mare would be racing in season.
ST ELMO'S FIRE - broke shortly after the start losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the colt.
Race 6   JOHN DUNN & TIM WILLIAMS MOBILE PACE
A false start was declared due to JIMANDAL breaking in the score up checking an outside runner. Sent to the unruly position by the Starter for the restart where the mare will remain for future mobile starts.
A second false start was declared due to REMISSION being hampered in the score up and unable to take up its allocated barrier position.
JIMANDAL - driver R Harrison advised she did not activate the removable deafeners or sliding blinds due to having the field covered.
MIDNIGHT SOPHIA - weakened final bend.
REMISSION - broke passing the 150m losing its chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare.
Race 7   THE PINT & PONY SPORTS BAR TROT
MM SUNSHINE - broke rounding the first bend losing ground. Driver R Holmes advised he was unable to activate the removable deafeners due to the cord becoming entangled.
HUCKLEBERRY - broke near the 600m when becoming awkwardly placed to the inside of MM SUNSHINE after a slight easing of the pace losing all chance.
ASPIRING BEAUTY - raced wide early.
MOA MOJITO - raced wide early. Weakened leaving the final bend.
WHICH WAY - slow to begin. Weakened leaving the final bend.
REGAL SPIRIT - broke at the start losing ground. Broke again near the 750m losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
Race 8   BROSNAN TRANSPORT LTD MOBILE PACE
HI HOPES - held up final bend and early in the run home.
SMOKING ASHES - raced wide early and middle stages. Weakened early in the run home. When questioned regarding the performance driver J Dunn advised the gelding had been required to work too hard during the running. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
LOUIS - held up early in the run home.
INTERPOL - weakened over the concluding stages.
CHANCE ON ME - raced wide with cover from the 1100m.
UNICO REALTA - raced wide from the 1100m.
Race 9   BODYGUARD HEALTH HANDICAP PACE
MIKI BROWN - weakened final bend.
COULD BE KATY - broke at the start losing all chance and was retired from the race. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly.
DESTINY'S DREAM - broke at the start losing ground. Weakened over the concluding stages.
TOPAZ - declared a non-runner by Stewards under Rule 213(1)(j) after being denied a fair start when the 20-metre barrier strand made contact with the mare's front legs, causing her to begin slowly.
KIWI HERO - contacted the 20 metre barrier strand as the start was effected despite the restraining effort of driver R Holmes.
AUNTIE DEB - weakened leaving the final bend.
Race 10   TACTICAL APPROACH STANDING AT ALABAR HANDICAP TROT
LEXICON - held up early in the run home and was inclined to lay outwards throughout the run home.
CHESTER GOLD - broke shortly after the start losing ground.
BARRYTOWN - broke shortly after the start losing all chance.
MONARCH PRINCE - held up throughout the run home. Driver R Close advised he did not activate the removable deafeners in consequence.
JOHNNY TROTTER - Stewards questioned driver J Dunn regarding his apparent lack of vigour over the concluding stages. Mr Dunn explained that the gelding, which had broken in its recent starts, had been trotting roughly throughout the run home. He believed that applying further pressure would likely have caused the gelding to break and therefore erred on the side of caution to ensure it remained in its correct gait. After considering Mr Dunn's explanation, reviewing all available films and taking into account their own observations, Stewards took the matter no further other than to note his comments.
MISTER - broke after 100m losing ground. Trotted roughly before breaking briefly rounding the final bend.
BROTHER LOVE - gave ground considerably over the concluding stages.
Race 11   B.P.T.C. THANKS GERALDINE TROTTING CLUB MOBILE PACE
A false start was declared due to JAZZYS UPSTART breaking in the score up checking a trailing runner. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Driver S O'Reilly elected to remain in her allocated barrier position for the restart with the sliding blinds being removed.
SHOWCASE - raced wide early.
WARRIOR CHIEF - raced wide early.
HEAVEN'S MARK - raced wide early and middle stages.
