Race 1   OKTOBERFEST 2 OCT-BEERS BETS & BRATS BOOK NOW HCP TROT
BROOKS SPIRIT - crowded by an outside runner racing into the first bend and raced over track markers. Broke racing around the first bend losing ground. Trotted roughly in the middle stages. Forced to race wide from the 600m before weakening final bend. When questioned regarding the performance co-trainer/driver B Hope advised that in his opinion, the gelding had been a false favourite given it was competing against several higher-rated and more experienced horses. He added that the gelding had been hampered and broken during the running and given its inexperience, would continue to derive benefit from further racing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
TU TANGATA - lay inwards racing into the first bend crowding an inside runner which raced over track markers. Trotted roughly in the run home and was unable to be fully driven out by driver P Nairn. Broke over the concluding stages and continued on in a break across the finish line. Authorisation of 3rd placing was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation and was not lapped on at the finish.
BREWSTER BAKER - held up final bend and early in the run home.
Race 2   LAZARUS STANDING AT WAI EYRE FARM 'BOOK NOW' MOBILE PACE
BERRETTINI - broke in the score up hampering a trailing runner and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
ARTFUL BROMAC - raced wide early.
APATCHOFGOLD - weakened over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Driver R May was issued a warning for using his whip on a runner out of contention.
TOUCH N GO - hampered in the score up however was in position at the start.
Race 3   GARRARDS HORSE & HOUND MOBILE TROT
RADIANT - broke near the 250m losing its chance.
MISS MONEYPENNY - broke as the start was effected losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly.
ZOE HARBOUR - broke in the score up and was out of position at the start. Placed on the unruly for future mobile starts. Broke in the early stages losing all chance.
MISS GRACE KELLY - trainer T Bagrie was issued a warning for being late to notify the filly would be racing with fixed deafeners and blinds.
UNSTOPPABLE - trotted roughly in the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly. Appeared to trot roughly on occasions in the running. When questioned regarding the performance co-trainer A Tomlinson advised the filly can be awkwardly gaited and would continue to derive benefit from further experience. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
DAZZLED - broke passing the 500m losing all chance.
SEEKING LOVE - broke near the 700m losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
Race 4   BETAVET BETABREATHE FOR AIRWAY SUPPORT & RECOVERY MOB PACE
SCOUNDREL - broke late in the run home and continued on in a break across the finish line. Stewards lodged a protest against 1st placing being awarded under Rule 870(5) alleging the colt was lapped on at the finish by LILACS LOCARNO. Connections did not contest the protest and SCOUNDREL was relegated to 2nd placing by Stewards.
AARDIE'S IDEAL - raced wide early.
SWEET ROMANCE - raced greenly in the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Weakened from the 500m.
AVALON - lay outwards in the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
Race 5   RICOH MOBILE TROT
MR MERCEDES - lay outwards and trotted roughly early in the run home.
STAR IN THE STORM - co-trainers B & T White were issued a $100 Minor Infringement Notice for presenting the filly to race with fixed deafeners and a pacifier which had not been notified.
JET STREAM - raced wide from the 800m.
TANIA HEST - broke at the start losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly. Weakened from the 700m.
Race 6   KIDNEY KIDS CHARITY RACENIGHT 25 SEPT 'BOOK NOW' HCP PACE
COMMANDER BEN - broke at the start losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
MAJOR PERFORMER - over-raced middle stages.
COBA CHARGED - paced roughly approaching the 2100m.
ALWAYS A PORSCHE - slow to begin from its 20 metre handicap and broke shortly after the start losing ground and took no competitive part in the race.
Race 7   ALLIED SECURITY - NZ'S SECURITY EXPERTS MOBILE TROT
ZHUTEE - trotted roughly in the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Hampered by a weakening runner near the 500m.
RANGITATA - weakened from the 500m hampering trailing runners. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
BUFFY NORTHSTAINS - lay inwards for a distance passing the 1100m. Hampered by a weakening runner near the 500m.
SUTTLE - trotted roughly in the middle stages.
WAIHEMO HANNAH - late scratching at 7.45pm on Veterinary advice due to being lame in the preliminary. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance prior to resuming.
Race 8   STUDHOLME BLOODSTOCK MARES' SPRING SPRINT MOBILE PACE
WINELIGHT - late scratching at 8.38am due to being sold.
Race 9   WOODLANDS STUD SIRES' STAKES FOUNDATIONS MOBILE PACE
GIORGIO DENARIO - shifted inwards marginally into the passing lane in the run home. Driver J Morrison was reminded of his obligations to maintain a straight course in the run home.
ASYMMETRIC RETURN - had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the early and middle stages of the run home.
SUSPICIOUS CAPTAIN - weakened final bend.
SONG OF SEAS - the boring pole was removed prior to the start due to breaking in the preliminary. This gear was inspected and found to be in previously good condition.
Race 10   TYRE GENERAL HANDICAP TROT
KAWATIRI TREV - trotted roughly in the early stages. Again trotted roughly racing into the first bend.
PREMIUM PLAYER - weakened final bend.
CONFESSIONAL - broke passing the 150m losing its chance.
Race 11   PASCOES THE JEWELLERS MOBILE PACE
MA BELLE AMIE FRANCO - held up early and middle stages of the run home.
ROSARIO - lay inwards and contacted the sulky stay of BEAUDIENE ALWAYS B racing into the first bend and paced roughly resulting in CHALDON being hampered. After questioning driver R Houghton and viewing replays, Stewards took no action other than to place a warning on the racing record of the gelding.
CHALDON - held up early and middle stages of the run home.
SIDESTEPPER - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver J Dunn. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
Race 12   GOLD BAND TAXIS MOBILE PACE
SELSEY ANNE - held up final bend.
BRONSKI - weakened final bend.
