Race 1   LISTEN LIVE ON SPORTNATION.NZ MOBILE PACE
HES SANTAS EXCUSE - held up by a weakening runner final bend.
FEAR GOGH - weakened final bend hampering a trailing runner. When questioned regarding the performance driver T Williams advised the mare had worked too hard in the early stages to maintain the lead. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.
MOTOR MOUTH - over-raced middle stages.
LILY'S A STAR - raced wide until reaching the parked position near the 850m. Driver S O'Reilly was issued a warning for the manner in which she drove rounding the first bend when attempting to shift an inside runner inwards when not having a sufficient advantage to do so.
MIRACLE MEMPHIS - held up final bend and early in the run home.
WHYAMIHERE - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver J Curtin. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Held up final bend. Mr Curtin was issued a warning for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion rounding the final bend and early in the run home.
ZEUS - driver B Thomas briefly dropped his inside rein near the 100m.
ARTFUL BROMAC - trainer M House advised the horse has been treated for back soreness since last racing.
Race 2   CONTINENTAL EVENT HIRE MOBILE TROT
DAZZLED - out of position at the start. Driver R Harrison was issued a warning.
NEIL WILLIAM - driver B Orange advised he did not activate the removable deafeners or sliding blinds due to having the field covered.
WENDY MOON - trotted roughly leaving the final bend.
ZOE HARBOUR - broke in the score up losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
CIRCUS MAXIMUS - broke in the score up losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Hung inwards when weakening from the 500m.
MAKANI - broke near the 200m losing all chance.
Race 3   GARRARDS HORSE & HOUND HANDICAP PACE
MY SKATJIE - broke after 100m losing ground. Authorisation of 3rd placing was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation in the early stages.
CARLIN - broke at the start losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Weakened final bend.
COBA CHARGED - broke briefly at the start losing ground. Weakened final bend.
Race 4   HORSES PERFORM BETTER ON BETAVET MOBILE TROT
NOAH MAGNIFIC - broke near the 1500m losing ground. Authorisation of 4th placing was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the mare had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation during the running.
HAIL MARY - broke racing into the first bend losing ground.
SWITCH ON - broke late in the score up losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
JET STREAM - hung inwards when improving wide near the 500m and struck the sulky wheel of SHEILA LAXON despite the efforts of driver A Clark.
SHEILA LAXON - weakened final bend. When questioned regarding the performance driver S O'Reilly advised that despite having to race parked she was disappointed with the effort.
MUMSDAWITCH - trotted roughly in the score up and was out of position at the candy pole. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly. Weakened final bend. When questioned regarding the performance trainer/driver M Williamson advised he was disappointed with the effort and he will have blood tests taken from the filly in the coming days. Stewards will follow up the results.
LOVEYOU TO DA SKYE - broke in the score up losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Held up final bend. Trotted roughly in the run home.
FLORENCE THE MACHINE - broke in the score up losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Held up final bend.
Race 5   FAHEY FENCE HIRE MOBILE PACE
The start was delayed one minute at the request of the TAB.
STAR ON THE ROCKS - weakened final bend and raced greenly hampering trailing runners.
BRUCIEBYTHESEASIDE - weakened leaving the final bend. When questioned regarding the performance driver M Williamson advised the gelding had worked hard to maintain the lead with the effort taking its toll. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
MELTON MAGNATE - raced wide early.
KOTARE RIMU - driver S Thornley admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that he used his whip in a continuous manner in the run home. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty, the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $300.
BRANDI SNAPP - hampered by an outside runner near the 300m and struck a track marker.
FRANCO HUMBIE - held up by a weakening runner final bend crowding an inside runner when being steadied.
LILAC LUXURY - cleared from the unruly for future mobile starts.
Race 6   LAUGHING OWL MOBILE PACE
RINGLEADER (B Orange) broke during the score up free of interference and shifted outwards, brushing the sulky of HARRY'S GIRL. Driver B Orange raised his hand to alert the Starter to call a false start when positioned to the outside of the track and clear of the running line. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Mr Orange elected to remain in his allocated barrier position for the restart. Raced greenly in the score up of the restart and was out of position at the start. Placed on the unruly for future mobile starts.
Stewards questioned Starter R Donnelly, members of the start crew and Mr Orange regarding the reasons for a false start being declared. After hearing from all parties and viewing the replays, Stewards issued a charge against Mr Orange under Rule 858(1)(a) alleging he caused a delay to the start by signaling to the Starter. Mr Orange defended the charge and after considering all of the evidence, the Adjudicative Committee upheld the charge and imposed a fine of $400.
CONAN - lay inwards final bend striking track markers.
RISE N SHINE - paced roughly passing the 1500m.
EASTWOOD COMMANDER - held up for clear racing room throughout the run home.
HARRY'S GIRL - weakened final bend.
DRAGON BALL - broke late in the score up of the restart losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Weakened final bend. Trainer/driver J Cox advised the horse will be sent for a spell.
Race 7   AOTEA ELECTRIC CANTERBURY SILK ROAD FINAL (HCP TROT)
ALMIGHTY - held up middle stages of the run home. Driver J Cox was issued a warning for using his whip in a continuous manner in the run home.
KRACKA LOOKA - over-raced middle stages.
KNOWING ME - broke racing into the first bend losing ground. Stood down to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on two occasions prior to resuming. Weakened from the 600m.
ROYAL GYPSY - locked wheels with MIDNIGHT DIAMOND leaving the final bend.
FOUR WISE WOMEN - broke near the 2000m losing ground.
MAVIS JONES - broke early in the run home losing its chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare.
MIDNIGHT DIAMOND - lay inwards and locked wheels with ROYAL GYPSY leaving the final bend and broke when being shifted wider on the track losing ground.
Race 8   CONCRETE BROTHERS MOBILE PACE
MYSTERY BEACH - driver D Williams was issued a warning for using her whip in a continuous manner in the run home.
TACT TEVA - lay inwards leaving the final bend striking a track marker.
DOUBLE TIME - weakened final bend.
Race 9   D J PARKYN PAINTING & DECORATING MOBILE PACE
MAMAS CRUNCH - held up late in the run home and broke briefly when having to be steadied.
JESSE OWENS - when questioned regarding the performance driver J Morrison advised he was disappointed with the effort and could offer no explanation.
VINCENT REACTRESS - crowded by an outside runner near the 1600m.
SHOWCASE - raced wide early.
SHARE A DREAM - crowded by an outside runner near the 1600m and struck track markers. Had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the run home.
TRANSONIC - hung inwards shortly after the start and again rounding the first bend having to be straightened crowding inside runners. Raced wide early. Weakened early in the run home. When questioned regarding the performance driver T Williams advised the gelding had been required to work too hard in the early stages when wide on the track before having to race in the parked position with the effort taking its toll. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.
QUINN - held up for clear racing room inside the final 100m.
MOSTERT - underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start.
Race 10   HARNESSLINK HANDICAP TROT
WILMA'S BOY - trotted roughly final bend and in the run home before breaking near the 150m losing all chance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Stood down to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on two occasions prior to resuming.
FRANCO JOSIAH - weakened final bend.
Race 11   GOLD BAND TAXIS PACE
SANS REPOS - broke at the start losing ground.
BETTOR THAN LIZZY - broke at the start losing ground.
STAR CAPTAIN - weakened from the 600m. A warning was placed on the racing performance of the gelding. Trainer J Versteeg advised the horse will be returned to the trials prior to resuming.
SARGENT HENRY - slow to begin.
