CHEEKY RED - lay inwards final bend striking track markers.
LOGAN ROCK - out of position at the candy pole despite the efforts of driver R May. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
MOTOR MOUTH - held up early and middle stages of the run home.
ULTIMATE PERFECTION - over-raced during the running.
Race 2   VIP TRADE MOBILE PACE
SCOTLYNN FORTRESS - held up early in the run home.
ULTIMATE DREAMER - driver A Butt admitted a breach of the Push Out Rule 869(4)(6)(b)(c) in that he shifted outwards approaching the 1600m forcing TUPPENCE (G Thornley) to race wider on the track. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty, the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $200.
SKY NEWS - over-raced middle stages.
THE CAPTAINS LADY - held up rounding the final bend and early in the run home. Broke and lost all chance when awkwardly placed behind the tiring THE SEAMSTRESS near the 200m.
TUPPENCE - forced to race wider on the track near the 1600m when an inside runner shifted outwards.
TACT FRANCO - held up early in the run home.
THE GANGSTER - late scratching at 10.06am due to transport difficulties.
THE SEAMSTRESS - weakened significantly from the 200m checking a trailing runner. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. A warning was placed on the racing performance of the mare.
Race 3   SYNCROFLEX SUPERIOR EQUINE & CANINE SUPPLEMENTS TROT
WAIHEMO HANNAH - slow to begin and had to shift ground outwards to avoid a breaking runner.
BUFFY NORTHSTAINS - broke at the start losing all chance.
ONNAHILL - late scratching at 10.06am due to transport difficulties.
MIKKO KOIVU - broke rounding the final bend losing all chance.
MOA MOJITO - weakened from the 500m.
LOVEYOU TO DA SKYE - raced wide early.
SON E - trotted roughly over the concluding stages and was unable to be fully driven out.
Race 4   3 JULY AMERICAN THEMED TRACKSIDE DINING BOOK NOW PACE
The start was delayed due to the Starter not being satisfied with the manner in which the field addressed the barriers due to several horses being fractious with all runners being turned out of line.
BABY COME BACK - held up final bend.
DREAMY ALBY - broke at the start losing ground.
MAJOR MISS - hampered near the 1400m when an inside runner shifted outwards. Weakened leaving the final bend.
WHATA IMPACT - paced roughly over the initial stages. Broke rounding the first bend losing ground. Broke again shortly after losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
JIMANDAL - shifted up the track passing the 1400m when being required to improve to withstand the challenge of MAJOR MISS, causing that runner a slight inconvenience . Driver J Morrison admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that, at this stage of the race, he used his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty, the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $300.
BLU DIAMOND - held up final bend.
CONAN - raced wide through the middle stages. Gave ground from the 400m finishing a distance from the field. When questioned regarding the performance, driver S O'Reilly advised that, in her opinion, the gelding had not appreciated having to work hard through the middle stages of the race after being required to improve its position and that exertion during the middle section of the event had taken its toll. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.
HOPPY'S SMILE - lost ground on the field passing the 800m.
Race 5   MID-WINTER XMAS DINING 17, 24 & 31 JULY BOOK NOW MOB PACE
DONTTELLTHEBOYS - paced roughly rounding the first bend.
LA CONCHA - under pressure near the 400m and weakened noticeably after negotiating the final bend, finishing well back. When questioned regarding the performance, driver C Dalgety advised he was disappointed with the effort, adding that the horse had travelled satisfactorily throughout but failed to respond when placed under pressure in the home straight. Mr Dalgety stated he could offer no tangible explanation for the disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days regarding the horse's recovery and any subsequent findings.
THIRD PARTY - weakened rounding the final bend. When questioned regarding the performance driver B Orange advised he was disappointed with the effort and could provide no explanation. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days regarding the horse's recovery and any subsequent findings.
CARRERA BANDIDO - held up early and middle stages of the run home.
DAWN TO DARK - raced wide early.
Race 6   RICOH CANTERBURY SILK ROAD FILLIES & MARES (HEAT 1) MOB PACE
CLASSIE LINC - driver S Thornley was issued a warning for failing to have his horse at the assembly point by the prescribed time.
TROUBLESHOOTER - trainer M Heenan was issued a warning for presenting the mare to race without the notified anti choke device.
LOUS PINUP GIRL - held up early and middle stages of the run home.
ULTIMATE SEISATION - held up final bend and early in the run home.
LARISSA BEAUDIENE - hung inwards in the run home having to be straightened by driver S Hill.
ARINITTI - cleared from the unruly for future mobile starts.
Race 7   MATARIKI TRACKSIDE DINING 10 JULY BOOK NOW PACE
CARLIN - broke briefly at the start and proved difficult for driver M Holbrough to restrain. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Authorisation of CARLIN's 3rd placing was withheld until Stewards had reviewed all available race footage and were satisfied the gelding had not gained an advantage over any other runner while in a break during the initial stages. After considering all available footage and the submissions of Driver M Holbrough (assisted by A Butt), Stewards determined that although CARLIN did not lose ground while in a break the gelding had not gained an advantage over any other runner as a result. Stewards were also satisfied that Miss Holbrough had taken all reasonable steps to return the gelding to its correct gait. Accordingly, authorisation of the gelding's 3rd placing was declared.
STAR CAPTAIN - inclined to lay outwards through the running causing driver J Versteeg some difficulty. Weakened passing the 700m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
DIDJASHOUTTHEBAR - weakened significantly from the 500m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Given the continued pattern of underperformance the gelding has been stood down to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on two occasions prior to resuming.
Race 8   NEVELE R STUD MOBILE TROT
In the interests of ensuring a fair start for all runners, the Starter elected to declare a false start after becoming concerned that not all runners, particularly those drawn in the unruly positions, were in their correct allocated positions in the score up.
ROBO TROUBLE - hampered by a weakening runner near the 600m. Weakened final bend.
SPANISH PRINCESS - trainer G Telfer was issued a $100 Minor Infringement Notice for being late to present the mare onto the track. Weakened from the 600m hampering a trailing runner.
MODE - weakened from the 400m.
TERRY WEBSTER - trotted roughly at various stages throughout.
BIZZA TO'O - trotted roughly on several occasions throughout the race, with driver S O'Reilly observed repeatedly looking down in concern. When questioned by Stewards, Miss O'Reilly explained that the gelding had been contacting the sulky crossbar with its hocks, which caused discomfort and adversely affected its ability to race with a fluent gait.
NOAH MAGNIFIC - cleared from the unruly for future mobile starts.
Race 9   GOLD BAND TAXIS MOBILE PACE
PUTERE BOY - held up final bend and early in the run home.
THE BETTOR MAJOR - locked wheels briefly with KOWHAI NUGGET in the run home. Driver M Maynard was issued a warning for using his whip free of the rein on one occasion in the run home.
QUINN - broke in the score up however was in position at the start.
KOWHAI NUGGET - raced wide early. Shifted up the track in the run home briefly locking wheels with THE BETTOR MAJOR. Driver C Wigg was issued a warning to make a greater effort to maintain a straight course in the run home in future.
