Trainer M Williamson advised Stewards on 3 May that THE DANCER was subsequently found to be suffering from a virus which was treated and the filly will have a freshen up prior to resuming.

Race 1   ANDERSON PARK MOTEL CROMWELL MOBILE PACE
THE BRICKLAYER - raced wide early.
TASHS BAD GIRL - raced three wide with cover from the 1000m.
PARTY UP DENARIO - raced three wide without cover from the 1000m. Weakened final bend. When questioned regarding the performance driver B Barclay advised he was disappointed and could offer no explanation. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no abnormality.
HONEYCOMB - over-raced middle stages. Held up final bend.
Race 2   RIVERTON FRESH CHOICE / RIVERTON BUTCHERY MOBILE PACE
DOLMIO ROCKS - broke in the score up however was in position at the start. Weakened in the run home.
AMERICANA ELITE - lay in leaving the final bend.
CRUNCHIE DALE - weakened final bend.
ULTIMATE RUSH - driver M Kyle reported that the mare had hung out at stages throughout and had been contacting the sulky footrests.
COSMIC AURUM - held up final bend and early stages of the run home.
Race 3   REAL NZ & BILL KEAST MEMORIAL MOBILE TROT
HARRIET'S MOMENT - when questioned regarding the performance driver B Williamson advised it had been his intention to get to the passing lane on the leader's back however when given clear air the mare had only battled in the run home.
JOANY BABY - late scratching on Veterinary advice at 8.43am.
LA DAMA - broke shortly after the start losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
Race 4   CARRIERS ARMS & OLE CODGERS FILLIES & MARES MOBILE PACE
PORCUPINE CREEK - raced wide early. Raced greenly near the 50m and shifted up the track.
WHY NOT ME - broke briefly near the 500m when racing to the outside of MARIALANA losing ground. Held up final bend. Lay in leaving the final bend. Stewards spoke with drivers C Ferguson (WHY NOT ME) and B Norman (MARIALANA) regarding WHY NOT ME breaking near the 500m. It was established that Mr Norman had correctly shifted MARIALANA outwards near the 500m simultaneously to WHY NOT ME laying in, with the near hind leg contacting the sulky wheel of MARIALANA and the filly breaking in consequence. After viewing the films which supported the driver's explanation Stewards took no further action other than to place a warning on the racing record of WHY NOT ME.
INLIGHTEN ME - late scratching on Veterinary advice at 7.55am.
SHOOTFORTHESTARS - out of position at the candy pole. Driver B McLellan was issued with a warning.
MARIALANA - out of position at the candy pole. Driver B Norman was issued with a warning.
SEASIDE ROBYN - held up middle and concluding stages of the run home.
Race 5   KENNEDY BUILDING / ALL LAY CARPETS HANDICAP TROT
ERROL D - the required Veterinary Clearance was received. Fractious prior to the start then stood on the mark as the tapes were released losing ground.
SPIRITINTHESKY - slow to begin. Driver O Thomas advised she was unable to activate the removable deafeners due to the cord breaking. The gear was inspected and found to be in previously good condition.
OUR EVIE RAE - lay in at stages throughout.
JACCKA ACE - pre-race warmed.
HE AINT FAKIN - driver B Williamson advised he did not activate the removable deafeners due to having the field covered.
Race 6   TUI BASE CAMP / WINGS & WATER MOBILE PACE
ALWAYS BE BOOTIE - over-raced middle stages.
TABASCO - weakened final bend. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. Stewards questioned junior driver M Hill, assisted by senior driver M Hurrell, regarding his tactics during the race, in particular his decision not to relinquish the lead and take a trail in the middle stages when the opportunity existed. Mr Hill explained that his instructions were to lead if possible which he was able to do after 400m. Mr Hill further stated that he tried to restrain his runner when STILL ROCKIN (R Gutsell) made an attempt on the lead near the 1600m and although gaining an advantage STILL ROCKIN was unable to get a full length in front. This occurred on several other occasions over the next 800m. When questioned Mr Gutsell confirmed that STILL ROCKIN was difficult to drive and with the gelding wearing a murphy blind on the near side it relaxes when it cannot see other horses. Stewards accepted the explanations of both drivers and took the matter no further other than to note the circumstances.
NUTCRACKER - raced wide early.
STILL ROCKIN - made several unsuccessful attempts to obtain the lead through the middle stages. Lay in leaving the final bend.
Race 7   MAX WINDERS SHEARING / KINGS MECHANICAL MOBILE PACE
BEAUDIENE QUICK STEP - raced wide early.
JACCKA ELVIS - raced wide early.
DRAGONESS - over-raced middle stages.
SUPERFAST - held up early stages of the run home. Driver B Norman advised he was unable to activate the removable deafeners due to the cord becoming entangled.
DONNY DO - required the attention of a Starter's Assistant prior to the score up. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
Race 8   NIGHT 'N DAY WINTON GOLD CHIP FINAL (HANDICAP TROT)
FILLYOURBOOTS - hampered by a breaking runner near the 800m.
BLARNEY STONE - broke shortly after the start losing ground.
IMPERIOUS GIRL - broke racing into the first bend hampering a trailing runner losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the racing record of the filly. Authorisation of this runner's 1st placing was withheld until Stewards had reviewed the footage and were satisfied IMPERIOUS GIRL had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation in the early stages. Driver C Ferguson advised he did not activate the removable deafeners due to having the field covered.
GARONNE - hampered by a breaking runner racing into the first bend.
GLENDHU MISCHIEF - hampered by a breaking runner near the 800m. Lay in over the concluding stages.
MOONLIGHT ANGEL - raced wide early.
RONDO TROUBLE - broke near the 800m hampering trailing runners losing ground. Stood down to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on one occasion prior to resuming. Lay in near the 600m contacting several track markers then broke again losing ground.
HAIL MARY - broke after 100m losing considerable ground. Broke again in the home straight losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare.
MY BONNIE LASS - hampered by a breaking runner near the 800m.
RYDGEMONT'S HEIR - slow in the early stages.
Race 9   TRANSPORT SERVICES LTD - TSL MOBILE PACE
THREEBEERSDEEP - weakened in the run home.
DRAGON POWER - broke briefly leaving the final bend hampering a trailing runner.
MAJOR BURNS - over-raced in the parked position for a distance near the 1500m. Weakened final bend.
CLOSE - raced three wide throughout after several unsuccessful attempts to reach the parked position in the middle stages. Weakened from the 600m.
ARMA FOREST - hampered by a breaking runner in the home straight. Driver D Anderson will be spoken to in the coming days regarding the manner he drove near the 300m.
