Race 6 - CANTERBURY PLAINS CHALLENGE SERIES (HEAT 7) MOBILE PACE
Driver T Chmiel (CHEEKY RED) defended a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly in the early stages by shifting ground inwards when insufficiently clear of CARRERA KAHU (S Tomlinson) which was checked and lost ground. After viewing the replays and hearing evidence from Mr Chmiel, Miss Tomlinson and Stewards, the Adjudicative Committee found the charged proved and suspended Mr Chmiel's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 6 May up to and including 10 May 2026 (2 days).

Race 1   SHARP GLASS IS HIRING HANDICAP TROT
AXEL ROSE - held up final bend and early in the run home. Shifted inwards late in the run home and came together with ONE OVER DA LINE. Driver M Williamson was reminded of his obligations to maintain a straight course in the run home.
LUVAVICI - broke briefly at the start.
RACHMANINOV - trotted roughly when laying inwards rounding the first bend. Weakened final bend.
MAKAKU - broke near the 850m losing all chance.
DREAM OF YOU - broke near the 900m losing all chance. Stood down to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on one occasion prior to resuming.
ONE OVER DA LINE - driver R Harrison was issued a warning for using her whip in a continuous manner in the run home.

COULD BE KATY - held up briefly near the 200m.
FAY COURTNEY - broke after 150m losing ground. Over-raced middle stages. Weakened early in the run home.
ROCKABILLY REIGN - weakened final bend.
SONG OF SEAS - paced roughly in the score up and was back from the unruly position at the start.

WISHING FOR U - held up by a weakening runner final bend.
ROUTE SIXTY SIX - driver W House advised he was unable to activate the sliding blinds due to the cord breaking.
NORMIE STEAD - weakened from the 600m hampering trailing runners.
JAY R TOLKIEN - raced wide early.
BETTOR GO VINNIE - the spreader broke near the 150m. This gear was inspected and found to be in previously good condition.
TRAIL BOSS - broke briefly early in the score up. Held up by a weakening runner final bend.

RAKERO MADDIE - raced keenly middle stages. Lay inwards near the 1050m striking a track marker.
WICKED DEAL - weakened from the 300m.
WAT FUN - lay inwards racing into the first bend having to be straightened by driver O Thornley.
Race 5   CANTERBURY STANDARDBRED BREEDERS STAKES (MOBILE PACE)
BETTERTHANBABE - weakened leaving the final bend.
EBONY ARDEN - over-raced middle stages.
CHRISTIES ART - paced roughly racing into the first bend having to be steadied by driver T Chmiel. Weakened leaving the final bend.
DYNASTY - driver K Butt advised she did not activate the removable deafeners due to having the field covered.
Race 6   NICK & TINA - RAINE & HORNE REAL ESTATE HANDICAP PACE
ARMA HUNTER - paced roughly shortly after the start. Crowded late in the run home.
TEDS LEGACY - held up until late in the run home.
COMMANDER BEN - broke at the start losing ground.
BETTOR BE SHARP - broke at the start losing ground. Raced wide early. Over-raced middle stages.
TEMPO WARRIOR - crowded late in the run home.
LESTER - crowded late in the run home.
TANZANIA - shifted inwards late in the run home crowding inside runners. Driver R May was issued a warning to make a greater effort to maintain a straight course over the concluding stages.
Race 7   'ABOUT NOW' COLIN HAIR MEMORIAL FILLIES & MARES (HCP TROT)
The start was delayed due to NELLIE DOYLE addressing the barrier in the incorrect position. Driver T Trathen was issued a $200 Minor Infringement Notice.
LIL WHIP - pre-race warmed. Broke at the start hampering trailing runners losing all chance.
MILLIE LET LOOSE - held up early in the run home.
GEORGE ELIOT - late scratching at 9.47am on Veterinary advice.
ROCK LOBSTER - began awkwardly and shifted inwards at the start. Hampered by a breaking runner in the early stages.
NELLIE DOYLE - hampered by a breaking runner in the early stages.
Race 8   KAI CO - GOOD FOOD. PRICED FAIR. MOBILE PACE
WARRIOR CHIEF - broke in the score up losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Briefly crowded racing into the first bend when attempting a marginal run and struck a track marker.
NEXT LEVEL - held up early in the run home.
TAKETHEPLUNGE - over-raced middle stages.
WILD WILLOW - driver J Cox was issued a warning for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home.
AMASS - shifted inwards racing into the first bend briefly crowding an inside runner which struck a track marker. Driver J Morrison was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.
Race 9   MAG & TURBO TYRE & SERVICE CENTRE MOBILE PACE
JUKEBOX GYPSY - had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the run home.
QUINN - over-raced early stages.
ZARLINI - driver B Hope was issued a warning for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion early in the run home.
QUICKER THAN QUICK - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver J Cox. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
