Race 1   MARGARET WEST MEMORIAL MOBILE PACE
PRINCESS LISA - shifted ground outwards under pressure in the run home having to be straightened by driver T Williams.
THE REAL CRUNCH - weakened over the concluding stages. When questioned regarding the performance driver M Williamson could offer no explanation.
THREEBEERSDEEP - lay inwards early stages of the run home.
RAKAMICK - raced wide early. Held up throughout the run home. Driver C Dalgety reported he did not activate the removable deafeners as a consequence.
RIGHTAZZ - had to be steadied near the 1800m when there was a slight easing of the pace.
Race 2   COATS & SCHUCK JEWELLERS HANDICAP TROT
HE AINT FAKIN - broke after 150m then settled before pacing losing all chance and being retired from the race by driver B Williamson.
PRACTICAL MAGIC - trotted roughly throughout the run home.
HIDDEN TALENT - lost the off hind plate leaving the final bend.
FIERY BANDITO - trotted roughly in the run home and was unable to be fully driven out by driver K Green.
Race 3   CRAIG & DYLAN HEYRICK AT HARCOURTS MOBILE PACE
RAKATURBO - raced greenly and attempted to ease near the 1200m. Driver C Dalgety was issued with a warning for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the middle stages.
TURN N BURN - raced wide early when attempting to lead. Over-raced for a distance passing the 1300m. Weakened final bend. Driver C Ferguson was issued with a warning for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the middle stages. When questioned regarding the performance trainer/driver C Ferguson advised that racing wide early and attempting to hold a forward position in the middle stages had taken its toll on the mare over the concluding stages. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
ULTIMATE RUSH - trainer M Saunders was issued with a warning for failing to affix mudguards.
RAVEN SHARD - locked wheels with an inside runner after 200m. Hampered by a breaking runner rounding the first bend.
TRENDY'S STAR - raced wide early.
KING'S COMMAND - lay outwards rounding the first bend making contact with the sulky of ULTIMATE RUSH and broke hampering trailing runners losing ground. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding. Over-raced and had to be steadied near the 1500m. Lay out rounding the final bend. Authorisation of this runner's 1st placing was withheld until the Stewards had reviewed the footage and were satisfied the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation in the early stages. A subsequent post-race Veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a laceration to the near front fetlock which was treated by the oncourse Veterinarian. Connections were advised KING'S COMMAND was stood down pending a Veterinary clearance prior to resuming.
RAKADIAMONDS - over-raced middle stages. Lay inwards and struck track markers final bend. Held up middle stages of the run home.
CASH IS KING - lay outwards and locked wheels with an outside runner after 200m. Hampered by a breaking runner rounding the first bend. Held up early stages of the run home. Driver K Tomlinson reported she did not activate the removable deafeners as a consequence.
SHOOTFORTHESTARS - cleared from the Unruly for future mobile starts.
Race 4   FOVEAUX COMMUNICATIONS LTD MOBILE PACE
GLAUCUS - weakened over the concluding stages.
OUR TWINKLE - trainer B Gray was issued with a warning for failing to affix mudguards.
BLAZE LIGHTENING - raced wide middle stages.
BEACHBREAK - held up throughout the run home.
Race 5   DIAMOND CREEK FARM / SBSR 2YO CLASSIC (MOBILE PACE)
ON YA BIKE - weakened final bend hampering a trailing runner.
CHIGGSY - came together with ROGER THAT near the 150m when both runners shifted ground marginally.
THE SWEETEST CATCH - hampered by a weakening runner final bend.
TRAVEL AGENT - broke racing into the first bend. Paced roughly over the concluding stages. Authorisation of this runner's 3rd placing was withheld until the Stewards had reviewed the footage and were satisfied the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation in the early stages.
The All Clear was delayed until connections of the 2nd placed CHIGGSY had the opportunity to view the photo finish with all placings then being duly authorised.
Following this race the track conditions were downgraded to Slushy.
Race 6   REGENT CAR COURT SOUTHERN CUPS FINAL (HANDICAP PACE)
HACKSAW RIDGE - broke at the start losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Lay in and stuck track markers near the 1300m. Driver J Morrison reported HACKSAW RIDGE had hung throughout.
BAR LOUIE - tangled away.
DREAMS ARE FREE - tangled away. Shifted ground outwards in the early and latter stages of the home straight. Driver N Williamson was issued with a warning for failing to maintain a straight course in the run home.
ALWAYS DREAMING - broke at the start losing ground.
THE BIG LEBOWSKI - forced to race wide from the 700m.
Race 7   OLPHERT CONTRACTING LTD MOBILE PACE
JUST LIKE JAGGER - lay outwards near the 250m having to be straightened by driver K Green.
STILL ROCKIN - paced roughly on various occasions. Weakened final bend. When questioned regarding the performance trainer/driver R Gutsell advised that the gelding had not handled the bends and had been striking its knees. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no abnormality.
LEITHEN LOUIE - raced wide early. Weakened over the concluding stages.
STEP IT UP A NOTCH - raced wide from the 700m.
BETTOR WAY - held up leaving the final bend.
TOSANA - shifted outwards near the 300m then hung outwards having to be corrected by driver M Hurrell. Held up throughout the run home.
CHICAGO SKY - held up early stages of the run home. Driver B Barclay reported he did not activate the sliding blinds as a consequence.
Race 8   MACCA LODGE / NEVELE R STUD SOUTHERN OAKS (MOBILE PACE)
SKINNY DIPPIN - shifted outwards near the 500m checking EBONEZY and SEEKING CLARITY which broke, with MIKI'S DEAL and JUSTAWEESIP also being hampered. Driver K Green defended a charge that she drove carelessly in this incident. After viewing replays and hearing evidence from all parties the Adjudicative Committee found the charge proved and after considering submissions on penalty imposed a suspension of Ms Green's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 1 May up to and including 10 May 2026 (5 days).
EBONEZY - lay outwards near the 900m and raced greenly. Checked and broke rounding the final bend losing all chance.
MIKI'S DEAL - hampered rounding the final bend.
SEEKING CLARITY - raced wide early. Became awkwardly placed on the sulky of JUSTAWEESIP near the 1750m when there was a slight easing of the pace, having to be steadied. Over-raced middle stages. Checked and broke rounding the final bend losing all chance.
B B CRUNCH - weakened final bend.
JUSTAWEESIP - hampered rounding the final bend.
Race 9   ALABAR NZ SOUTHERN SUPREMACY STAKES (MOBILE PACE)
GIORGIO DENARIO - awkwardly placed to the inside of LOUIES ME DAD when over-racing near the 900m when that runner had initially lay outwards and raced greenly, with GIORGIO DENARIO having to be steadied. Had to be steadied again near the 700m when shifting ground inwards. Raced wide from the 500m.
LOUIES ME DAD - lay outwards and raced greenly near the 900m. Hampered by a breaking runner near the 600m. Weakened final bend. Driver A Milne reported a sulky tyre had deflated during the running.
SIDE HUSTLE - paced roughly when racing wide in the early stages.
SHIVER IN THE DARK - raced wide from 750m. Hampered by a breaking runner near the 600m. Weakened final bend.
CRUISE MAGUIRE - raced wide early.
SPICEY LOU - held up early stages of the run home.
PALLADIUM - driver N Williamson admitted a charge under Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that he used his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home. STUMBLIN IN - broke near the 600m and shifted outwards hampering outside runners losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
Race 10   CADUCEUS CLUB OF SOUTHLAND HANDICAP TROT
CALL DUDLEY - broke at the start losing all chance.
RYDGEMONT'S HEIR - broke shortly after the start losing all chance.
SPIRITINTHESKY - lay inwards and struck track markers first bend.
JACCKA ACE - pre-race warmed.
AXEL ROSE - hampered by breaking runners shortly after the start.
HARRIET'S MOMENT - fractious prior to the start and backed away, becoming positioned under the outside fence as the tapes were released. Declared a non-runner by Stewards acting under Rule 213(1)(e) due to unsatisfactory manners prior to the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
MOR MOONLIGHT - broke at the start losing ground. Authorisation of this runner's 4th placing was withheld until the Stewards had reviewed the footage and were satisfied the mare had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation.
XERION - broke at the start losing ground. Broke again rounding the final bend contacting a track marker losing all chance.
BOB BARRELIT - underwent a pre-race vet examination and was passed fit to start
Race 11   BETAVET NZ MARES MOBILE PACE
HONEYCOMB - had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the run home.
BABE ON THE BEACH - over-raced middle stages.
DAME WEST - checked racing into the first bend losing all chance.
ALWAYS A MENACE - raced wide early stages. Driver B Williamson reported the mare appeared to be showing signs of lameness on return to the stable area. A subsequent Veterinary examination revealed ALWAYS A MENACE to be lame in the near hind leg. Stood down pending a Veterinary clearance prior to resuming.
RAKAVENOM - hung outwards racing into the first bend and broke, shifting out and making contact with the sulky of ELEKTRA KING which was hampered, then further shifted out checking DAME WEST resulting in driver B Orange (RAKAVENOM) being dislodged from the sulky with both runners losing all chance. Mr Orange was attended to by the oncourse St John Ambulance personnel and cleared of any injury. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare.
FETA GO FERNCO - raced wide until reaching the parked position near the 950m.
ELEKTRA KING - hampered racing into the first bend. Raced wide throughout.
