Race Comments

Race 1   NZMCA PARKING ON SITE MOBILE PACE
MARY MAGDALENE - hampered near the 450m by a weakening runner. Weakened in the run home.
OPA'S GIRL - fractious in the pre-race formation requiring the assistance of a Starter's Attendant. Hampered REET PETITE when being called to score up. Placed on the unruly for future mobile starts.
TWIST AND TANGO - the single leg spreader became detached racing into the first bend. Lay outwards throughout the run home. Stewards inspected the spreader where it was established that it had broken at the point where it attaches to the girth with no further action deemed necessary.
LINCOLN LINDA - commenced to weaken near the 450m hampering a trailing runner. Driver P Ferguson advised that the filly over-raced through the middle stages, striking its sulky wheels, which subsequently impacted its ability to finish the race competitively. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
Race 2   HIRE A VENUE AT CAMBRIDGE RACEWAY HANDICAP TROT
HIGHVIEW ROCKN ROLL - trotted roughly near the 50m before breaking near the 40m, continuing in a break across the finish line and was lapped on by the 5th placed TINKERBELLE. Stewards lodged a protest under Rule 870(5) against this runner's 4th placing. Connections did not contest the protest and HIGHVIEW ROCKN ROLL was relegated to 5th placing by Stewards. Stood down to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on one occasion prior to resuming
B D CASTLETON - broke at the start losing all chance. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier manners.
Race 3   QUIZ NIGHT AT THE CLUBHOUSE EVERY WEDNESDAY MOBILE PACE
LEXINGTON QUEEN - weakened in the run home. When questioned regarding the performance Driver A Poutama advised he was slightly disappointed however added that the mare was racing up in class from its previous assignment. A post-race veterinary examination including an endoscopy revealed no significant findings.
RASMUSSIN EFFECT - raced greenly entering the first bend. Weakened leaving the final bend.
CAULFIELD - weakened rounding the final bend.
Race 4   JOIN US AT BFT GYM HANDICAP TROT
AND REMEMBER ME - slow to begin. Broke passing the 150m losing its chance.
SKEE PRINCESS - pre-race warmed.
SHARP IMAGE - weakened in the run home. When questioned regarding the performance Driver J Stormont advised that in his opinion the gelding had not backed up from its last start and further added that it may have not been suited by tonight's distance.
SUPERFAST LADY - broke shortly after the start losing its chance.
BROTHER JOHNSON - trotted roughly over the concluding stages and was unable to be driven out with vigour by Driver D Butcher.
Race 5   THANK YOU ASHLEIGH HOPPING MOBILE PACE
COMMANDER LINCOLN - over-raced middle stages.
Race 6   K&L AT THE RACES JUNIOR DRIVERS MOBILE PACE
AUNTY ROSE - locked wheels with HE'S TOUGH passing the 1800m for a considerable distance then broke losing considerable ground. Stewards spoke with junior drivers H Orange (assisted by S Abernethy) and C Hackett (assisted by A Poutama) regarding the incident in question. Each driver was given the opportunity to provide their account of the circumstances and after considering the submissions from all parties and carefully reviewing all available race footage, it was established that AUNTY ROSE shifted outward whilst under slight restraint at a point where HE'S TOUGH was improving rapidly to its outside. Stewards were satisfied that the circumstances were a result of racing dynamics rather than any carelessness from either driver and subsequently, no action was deemed necessary.
HE'S TOUGH - locked wheels with AUNTY ROSE passing the 1800m for a considerable distance then broke losing considerable ground.
Race 7   DAILY DOUBLE COFFEE SHOP TROT
ATMOSFEAR - broke approaching the first bend losing considerable ground. Broke near the 1700m losing further ground. Broke again near the 250m.
ISHTAR - broke near the 1350m losing all chance. A warning was placed on the mare's racing manners.
KC'S PRINCESS - broke near the 250m losing ground.
IM A ROCKSTAR - broke entering the first bend losing ground. Lay in when weakening rounding the final bend.
MECHANICA - slow early.
KAMILLA - Driver O Gregory reported that he did not activate the removal deafeners due to having the field covered.
