Race 1   CREATIVE CATERING HANDICAP TROT
A false start was declared at the first attempt when SO MYSTIFYING breasted the 40m tape and then swung out onto RUBBLE ON THE DOUBLE prior to the barriers being released. A warning was placed on SO MYSTIFYING's barrier manners.
Another false start was declared at the second attempt when SO MYSTIFYING was facing the opposite way when the barriers were released.
The start was further delayed when VALENTINA SHEVCHENKO reared and fell to the track. Underwent a Veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Sent to the outside Unruly position for the restart at the request of Trainer J Abernethy.
Stewards extended leniency when assessing horse penalties for this race due to the delays to the start.
MECHANICA - broke at the start losing all chance and was retired from the event.
SCOOTS - broke near the 1400m losing ground before settling. Broke again near the 1150m losing all chance. Broke on a further occasion near the 250m when trailing the field.
BROTHER JOHNSON - slow early and then lost ground racing through the back straight on the first occasion. Broke near the 300m losing all chance.
SO MYSTIFYING - connections reported the mare would be racing in season. Trotted roughly entering the first turn losing ground and trailed the field thereafter. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no abnormality.
RUBBLE ON THE DOUBLE - lost ground through the back straight on the first occasion. When questioned regarding the performance Driver P Ferguson stated that the gelding had trotted roughly after resenting grit being thrown back. Mr Ferguson further stated he would be recommending gear changes for the second day.
Race 2   THE MEMBERS MOBILE PACE
The start of this race was delayed 2 minutes at the request of Raceday Control due to the delay in the previous event.
MAGIE DO - lay in rounding the final turn.
EASTWOOD ADMIRAL - lay in contacting a track marker rounding the final turn.
MAJOR MOONSHINE - Driver E Johnson was warned for using her whip with more than a wrist flicking motion early in the run home.
GET SET PARTY - weakened from the 600m.
AMERICAN TOS - Trainer M House was issued with a $50 Minor Infringement Notice for being late to notify the removal of blinds. Broke near the 1600m losing ground before settling. The gelding was then retired from the event and was transported back to the stabling area by the Horse Ambulance. A post-race Veterinary examination, including X-Rays revealed a fracture to the right hind fetlock which required the gelding to be humanely euthanised.
Race 3   MASONIC HOTEL MOBILE PACE
BENJAMIN BUTTON - weakened from the 400m. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no abnormality.
COSMIC STAR - weakened rounding the final turn.
GENUINE IMITATION - raced wide early.
I CAN TOO - raced wide early.
TRES BONNE FILLE - weakened rounding the final turn.
Race 4   FEARON-BELL MOBILE PACE
JAHI - Driver S Doody was issued with a warning after using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home.
GWENDOLINE MARY - commenced to weaken near the 500m.
MIDFREW LANDO - raced wide early and middle stages before being restrained to the rear near the 1800m. When questioned regarding the performance Driver K Coppins advised that at this stage of its career the gelding does not possess high gate speed and she had not been able to gain a position in the running line in the early stages so had restrained to the rear. Miss Coppins further advised she had elected to improve round to sit parked when the tempo eased in the middle stages and had received every opportunity.
BECKER - weakened rounding the final turn.
BET ON POLLY - broke near the 1250m hampering a trailing runner and losing ground before settling. A warning was placed on the mare's racing manners.
DREAM ON LOU - hampered by a breaking runner near the 1250m.
RACK'EM UP - raced wide early.
Race 5   HAPPY BIRTHDAY ALLAN BROWN HANDICAP TROT
ORDAINED - had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the home straight.
KOKO KABOOM - broke entering the first turn losing all chance.
KINK - broke near the 200m losing ground before settling. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners.
ROMEO FOXTROT - when questioned regarding the performance Driver H Orange stated he was satisfied with the gelding's run given the 35m handicap and the solid tempo of the race.
JOHNNY WHO - broke shortly after the start losing all chance.
Race 6   PETE'S PLUMBING MOBILE PACE
SKYS LEGACY - raced three wide without cover from the 1200m. Broke passing the 200m checking a trailing runner. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners.
RHAEGAL - raced wide early. Checked by a breaking runner passing the 200m losing ground.
FEAR THE DIVA - Trainer S Doody was issued with a $100 Minor Infringement Notice after presenting the mare without the notified blinds. The gear was fitted prior to the start.
Race 7   PALMERSTON NORTH COUNTRY CUP PRELUDE
STEALERS WHEEL - shifted out and broke briefly at the start.
