Race 1   STEPHEN PARKINSON ORTHOPAEDIC TROT
The start was delayed due to BARRYTOWN charging the barrier strand. Driver G Telfer defended a breach of Rule 858(1)(a) in that he anticipated the start causing a delay. After hearing evidence from Stewards, Starter R Donnelly, driver G Telfer and viewing the replays, the Adjudicative Committee upheld the charge and imposed a fine of $200.
ROYAL GYPSY - broke at the start losing ground.
BARRYTOWN - stood on the mark as the start was effected hampering a trailing runner before breaking losing ground.
GO HOME DENISE - broke after 150m losing all chance.
SOMETHING ELSE - when questioned regarding the improved performance connections advised they had made a gear change following the mare's last start and the horse had not been showing signs of being in season today as reported previously.
NIGHT LIFE - broke after 150m losing ground. Broke again near the 1700m losing all chance. Stood down to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on one occasion prior to resuming.
DIAMOND HARBOUR - trainer K James was issued a warning for presenting the mare to race with blinds instead of the notified fixed deafeners.
ALDEBARAN REDWOOD - hampered by BARRYTOWN as the start was effected losing ground. Held up early in the run home.
Race 2   WIDE SPAN SHEDS PACE
CRIMSON TIDE - broke shortly after the start losing ground.
ONE OF THESE NIGHTS - trainer B Ward admitted a breach of the Conduct of Meetings Regulation in that he was late to present the gelding on course. After hearing submissions on penalty, the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $100. Broke shortly after the start losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Placed on the unruly for future standing starts at the request of Mr Ward.
TAIKA - slow through the early stages. Weakened final bend.
Race 3   ALLENTON PHARMACY TROT
The start was delayed due to NEIL WILLIAM becoming fractious and refusing to come up into its position. The start was further delayed due to NEIL WILLIAM again becoming fractious and rearing with the gelding sent to the unruly position by the Starter where the horse will remain for future standing starts.
ALDEBARAN LOBELL - broke after 100m losing ground. Authorisation of 3rd placing was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation in the early stages.
ALICE IN DREAMLAND - fractious prior to the start. Stood on the mark as the start was effected losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Held up early in the run home. Trainer M House advised he would be making gear changes prior to the horse resuming.
HOOFN IT - hampered by a breaking runner near the 1100m. Weakened final bend.
MYSARIA - broke after 150m hampering outside runners losing ground. Broke again near the 600m losing all chance.
PHANTOM SPUR - broke near the 1100m losing ground. Stood down to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on one occasion prior to resuming.
NEIL WILLIAM - broke after 100m and shifted outwards abruptly losing all chance. Stood down to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on one occasion from a standing start prior to resuming.
MAJESTIC TRIX - broke near the 1100m hampering trailing runners losing all chance. Stood down to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on one occasion prior to resuming.
JUST CHARLIE - hampered by a breaking runner after 150m. Again hampered by a breaking runner near the 1100m. Weakened final bend.
MOUNT THOMAS - hampered by a breaking runner near the 1100m. Weakened leaving the final bend.
B K MUMMA JAMIE - hampered by a breaking runner after 150m.
CARMEN LUCIA - hampered by a breaking runner near the 1100m. Broke late in the run home. Authorisation of 4th placing was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the mare had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation and was not lapped on at the finish.
VICTOR RADLEY - broke after 100m losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
GIMME THREE STEPS - held up by a weakening runner rounding the final bend before breaking and continued on in a break despite the efforts of driver J Morrison losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding. Trainer B Ward advised he would be making gear changes prior to the horse resuming.
Race 4   CHICKENS LAWN & GARDEN MOBILE PACE
OCEAN OF TEARS - held up early in the run home.
CLASSIE LINC - weakened from the 500m. When questioned regarding the performance driver S O'Reilly advised she was disappointed with the effort and could offer no explanation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
Race 5   DAVE McCREA BUILDER TROT
ARDEN SOLITAIRE - broke after 150m checking a trailing runner losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
PRESTIGIOUS - broke rounding the first bend losing ground.
JUST EASY - broke rounding the first bend losing ground.
LAVRA SEGIL - broke at the start checking trailing runners losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Weakened final bend.
DELLA'S FELLA - broke after 100m losing ground. Trotted roughly rounding the first bend. Broke again near the 500m losing all chance. Stood down to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on one occasion prior to resuming.
MACHO MAN - held up early in the run home.
CASTLEISLAND - hung inwards rounding the final bend.
MAJESTIC MONKEY - checked and broke after 150m losing ground. Hampered by a weakening runner near the 600m.
ONNAHILL - weakened from the 600m hampering a trailing runner.
MAROUBRA - broke at the start before being checked by a breaking runner in the early stages losing ground.
THE WILL - checked and broke in the early stages losing all chance.
Race 6   GALLAGHER INSURANCE MOBILE PACE
GEORGIE ZUKOV - held up final bend and early in the run home.
COURAGE REACTOR - raced wide early.
BURNHAM GIRL - raced wide early.
RAKNRUIN - raced wide early.
BUACHAILL DANA - held up final bend and in the early and middle stages of the run home.
BETTERWITHBLING - held up throughout the run home.
Authorisation of placings was delayed until Stewards had reviewed the photo finish after the Judge initially placed TWICE THE CHARM 2nd and COURAGE REACTOR 3rd. Upon consultation with Stewards, Judge G Rowland corrected his initial placings in accordance with Rule 874(1) with COURAGE REACTOR being confirmed as finishing in 2nd place and TWICE THE CHARM in 3rd place.
Race 7   FRONT LEA PARTNERSHIP HANDICAP TROT
SILVESTER - late scratching at 9.00am on Veterinary advice.
MISTER - broke leaving the final bend losing all chance.
LUVAVICI - hampered by a breaking runner near the 1200m.
KNOWING ME - fractious prior to the start. Broke rounding the first bend losing ground. Broke again near the 1200m hampering trailing runners losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare.
MAKAKU - trotted roughly in the run home.
WATERLOO STATION - hampered by a breaking runner near the 1200m.
Race 8   MIKE GREER HOMES HANDICAP PACE
WAIKAKA - broke at the start losing ground. Lay inwards and paced roughly near the 700m. When questioned regarding the performance driver C Thornley advised he was disappointed with the effort and could offer no explanation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
KISS THE GIRLS - broke at the start losing ground. Placed on the unruly for future standing starts.
LESTER - held up early in the run home.
Race 9   McCORMACK DECORATING MOBILE PACE
FAREWELL SPIT - out of position at the start. Driver R Close was issued a warning. Mr Close advised he did not activate the removable deafeners or sliding blinds due to the cord becoming entangled.
DOVER TERRACE - out of position at the start. Driver B Munro was issued a warning. Had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the run home.
SUPER FUND - held up early in the run home.
