| Trainer J Young advised Stewards on 17 February that FIFTH AND FINAL has recovered well from its below market expectation performance which he could only attribute to the gelding not having been suited to the slow tempo of the event which had developed into a sprint home. |

Driver P Young admitted a charge under Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that he used his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion early in the run home. After viewing the replays and hearing penalty submissions the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $300. Mr Young advised the gelding had been striking his own wheel disc during the running. | |
