The start was delayed due to THE WILL being fractious. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
MAROUBRA - broke briefly at the start hampering a trailing runner losing ground.
MAJESTIC TRIX - broke near the 1100m losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare.
HOOFN IT - weakened final bend.
ALICE IN DREAMLAND - broke at the start losing all chance.
LADY LUCINDA - hung inwards and struck track markers rounding the final bend. Driver R Close reported the mare had hung inwards rounding the bends.
MOUNT THOMAS - broke briefly near the 50m losing ground.
KAYLEEBELLE - hampered by breaking runners at the start. Broke rounding the final bend losing all chance.
CARMEN LUCIA - broke at the start losing ground. Broke again after 150m losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare.

GEORGIE ZUKOV - lay inwards and struck a track marker rounding the final bend.
MOTOR MOUTH - trainer J Gray was issued a warning for being late to notify the gelding would be racing without the notified blinds.
HI LIFE - over-raced middle stages.
MY WINGMAN - raced wide early.
Race 3   AURORA STORM HANDICAP PACE
NOT OVER - hung inwards rounding the final bend striking track markers.
COUNTRY GOLD - broke shortly after the start losing ground.
GATECRASHER - broke at the start hampering a trailing runner losing ground.
WAIKAKA - raced fiercely rounding the final bend placing driver C Thornley in some difficulty.
GOODOLDAYZ - hampered by a breaking runner at the start. Raced wide from the 800m.
JAKE - eased down near the 900m and was retired from the race. When questioned regarding the performance trainer/driver R Cameron advised the gelding had been making abnormal breathing noises and had flipped its palate. Mr Cameron added he would be making gear changes prior to the horse resuming. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
STYLE COUNCIL - began awkwardly. Lay inwards and struck a track marker near the 2100m.
Race 4   CANTERBURY BREEDERS (JOAN BELCHER LEGACY) HANDICAP TROT
ILLEGAL ALIEN - driver B Hope was issued a warning for using his whip with his foot removed from the sulky footrest in the early stages.
SILVERLININGS - began awkwardly. Broke after 100m hampering a trailing runner losing ground. Driver S Thornley was issued a warning for failing to take a breaking runner clear of the field. Weakened from the 700m.
ONE MHOR FOR HEATHER - broke at the start losing all chance.
GEORGE ELIOT - broke in the run home losing ground.
VERTIGO - hampered by a breaking runner after 100m. When questioned regarding the performance trainer/driver L McCormick advised the mare had been unsuited by the tempo of the race and had been unable to make up ground due to the fast closing sectionals.
Race 5   HSW ACCOUNTANTS - THE TYRE GENERAL AMBERLEY MOBILE PACE
MA BELLE AMIE FRANCO - hung outwards rounding the final bend. Held up early in the run home.
HAPPY HARRIET - hung inwards leaving the final bend and in the run home.
WILLOW VALLEY - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver A Cameron. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Hampered by a breaking runner near the 1600m.
GIRL'S NIGHT OUT - raced wide early. Driver R Holmes reported he did not activate the hopple shorteners due to the mare pacing more fluently than in recent starts.
UNICO TESSA - raced wide early. Hampered by a breaking runner near the 1600m.
HONOUR BRIGHT NOTE - broke as the start was effected losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Broke again when racing over the crossing near the 1600m hampering trailing runners losing ground. Lay inwards and struck a track marker rounding the final bend.
Race 6   G.K. FYFE PAINTING "MAKING IT HAPPEN" TROT
MOA MOJITO - trotted roughly in the early stages and broke after 100m losing all chance.
MEANDAD - held up early in the run home and trotted roughly.
DIAMOND HARBOUR - raced wide early.
TOP OF THE HILL - when questioned regarding the performance driver C Dalgety advised the gelding had travelled well however failed to respond when placed under pressure inside the final 300m and he was disappointed with the effort.
BAFFLED - trainer J Gray advised the mare has been treated for a virus and by a chiropractor since last racing.
BLUEY - broke near the 150m losing its chance.
PRINCE TEKA - held up early and middle stages of the run home.
BONNIE BAGRIE - broke after 150m and continued on in a break for some distance despite the efforts of driver J Dunn. Raced wide rounding the first bend. Broke again leaving the final bend when leading losing all chance.
Race 7   RANGIORA EQUINE SERVICES 'AMBERLEY CUP' (HCP PACE)
HACKSAW RIDGE - broke briefly at the start. Paced roughly in the early stages.
BAZOOKA - broke at the start losing ground.
SMOKE ON THE WATER - when questioned regarding the performance driver R Close advised the gelding had been unsuited by the tempo of the race after starting from a 40 metre handicap. Mr Close added that the horse had been unable to make up ground due to the fast closing sectionals of the race and considering this he was not disappointed with the effort.
Race 8   VALLEY INN TAVERN MOBILE PACE
KUSHITE WARRIOR - broke near the 1600m hampering trailing runners losing ground.
MY TEN GUITARS - when questioned regarding the improved performance trainer M Scheuber advised the mare races well on this course and had been working well in preparation for today's meeting. Mr Scheuber added the horse had received an economical run throughout and he was not surprised by the effort.
PLAYING WITH STARS - underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after racing at the NZ Metropolitan TC meeting the previous night and was cleared to start.
JUDINE - held up until late in the run home.
SOFIA ROSE - raced wide early.
FLYAWAY - held up for clear racing room in the run home. Driver S O'Reilly advised the mare had hung inwards rounding the final bend and in the run home causing her difficulty and she had not activated the removable deafeners in consequence.
BALTIC STAR - raced greenly in the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
PENNY WEIGHT - hampered by a breaking runner near the 1600m. Held up early in the run home.
GEM N EM - hampered by a breaking runner near the 1600m. Held up throughout the run home. Driver R Close advised he did not activate the removable deafeners in consequence.
Race 9   GLENN SCOTT MEMORIAL HANDICAP TROT
CASTLEISLAND - over-raced early and middle stages.
GO HOME DENISE - trotted roughly over the early stages. Again trotted roughly in the run home.
MM SUNSHINE - broke racing into the first bend losing all chance and was retired from the race. A clip on the breastplate broke while the mare was in a break. This gear was inspected and found to be in previously good condition.
BULLIT TRAIN - trotted roughly in the run home.
DARK GHANA - broke near the 200m losing its chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
Race 10   DAWE CONTRACTING LTD - SHORE ACCOUNTING SOLUTIONS MOB PACE
SHANKY'S SHOT - struck track markers rounding the final bend when leading with several trailing runners also striking track markers. Driver B Butt was issued a $100 Minor Infringement Notice.
SWEET GLORY - driver A Lethaby was issued a warning for being late to arrive at the start area.
JACK'S EYRE - raced wide early. Held up for clear racing room for the majority of the run home.
MIKE'S EYRE - raced wide early. Held up throughout the run home.
FRANCO CHAPLIN - raced wide in the early stages and paced roughly for a distance near the 1650m losing ground.
ROCKOUTRAY - raced wide early. Over-raced middle stages. Junior driver M Holbrough was issued a charge under Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that she used her whip with more than a wrist flicking motion and in a continuous manner in the run home with the hearing being adjourned until the Hororata TC meeting on 8 February 2026.
TIMES LIKE THESE - over-raced when there was a slight easing of the pace near the 1400m resulting in the trailing SARGENT HENRY being checked losing ground.
