Race 1   SPEIGHT'S MOBILE PACE
HEY TONIGHT - trainer B Ward was issued a warning for being late to present the mare on course.
SIMPLY ME - over-raced middle stages. Held up leaving the final bend.
IMPRESSIVE SHARD - paced roughly at various stages throughout. When questioned regarding the performance driver S Tomlinson advised the mare had been hanging during the running.
COURAGE REACTOR - over-raced when being restrained to obtain cover near the 1000m.
BETTOR N JOY - weakened final bend. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lameness in the right hind leg. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance prior to resuming.
Race 2   TIMARU TOWN & COUNTRY TROT
WHICH WAY - slow to begin. Broke briefly after 100m. Weakened leaving the final bend.
TAMSIN TROUBLE - broke over the concluding stages losing ground. Authorisation of 4th placing was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the mare had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation and was not lapped on at the finish.
BULLET - broke at the start losing all chance and was retired from the race.
REPENDANT - trainer M House was issued a warning for presenting the gelding to race without a number which was fitted prior to the start.
JOSEPHINE - weakened from the 900m and raced greenly causing driver D McCormick difficulty. When questioned regarding the performance Mr McCormick advised the mare had raced ungenerously over the concluding stages and he would consider sending the horse for a spell. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
Race 3   NEW BRIGHTON CLUB BY THE SEA MOBILE PACE
DREAM BOYZ - driver J Dunn advised he did not release the hopple shorteners due to the gelding pacing well today after having a history of pacing roughly when the shorteners have been released in previous starts.
CONNIE GOLIGHTLY - hampered by a breaking runner leaving the final bend.
BALTIC STAR - raced wide early. Hampered by a weakening runner leaving the final bend.
BRITE LEDGER - raced wide early. Weakened leaving the final bend hampering trailing runners.
WHATSUPMAN - placed in restricted room leaving the final bend when hampered by a weakening runner and broke losing all chance hampering an outside runner. When questioned regarding this incident driver R Close advised he became awkwardly placed due to runners ahead of him weakening sharply and not yet having sufficient advantage over outside runners. Mr Close added the gelding had paced roughly throughout.
SHEWONMEOVER - raced wide early. Raced three wide from the 1500m. Weakened final bend.
THE SEAMSTRESS - hampered by a weakening runner leaving the final bend.
SCOTLYNN FORTRESS - raced wide with cover from the 900m.
Race 4   RICHMOND CLUB - THE BOROUGH PACE
LAY ON MACDUFF - trainer D Burrows was issued a warning for presenting the gelding to race without the notified blinds. Lay inwards at various stages throughout.
DELIGHT WITH ME - broke at the start losing ground.
ULTIMATUM - when questioned regarding the improved performance trainer M Purvis advised the gelding had raced without luck in recent starts and had appreciated a return to a standing start today.
IRISH MIKI - weakened leaving the final bend and paced roughly.
SADIE - paced roughly racing into the first bend. Forced to race wide from the 900m. When questioned regarding the improved performance trainer J Gray advised the mare had appreciated the economical run towards the rear of the field for the first 1500m and had also benefitted from an uninterrupted run over the final stages of the race.
Race 5   OAMARU CLUB "THE BEST IN THE BIG O" TROT
GO HOME DENISE - held up early and middle stages of the run home.
KISS ME KATE - broke at the start losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
SHEZA TRENDY ONE - held up final bend.
BONNIE BAGRIE - broke after 100m losing all chance. Stood down to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on one occasion from a standing start prior to resuming.
ALDEBARAN REDWOOD - slow to begin. Driver C DeFilippi was spoken to and reminded of his obligations when shifting outwards near the 200m briefly placing an outside runner in restricted room.
Race 6   RANGIORA RSA & CLUB "THE HEART OF RANGIORA" HANDICAP PACE
COURTNEY ROSE - weakened over the concluding stages.
GOODOLDAYZ - broke at the start losing ground. Held up early in the run home.
HENRY WINKLER - broke at the start losing ground.
TERRORMYLOVE - broke at the start losing ground.
TOPAZ - late scratching at 1.14pm on Veterinary advice. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance prior to resuming.
TEMPO WARRIOR - when questioned regarding the performance driver S Ottley advised the gelding had peaked on its run and may be feeling the effects of recent racing.
Race 7   THE COUNTRY CLUBS, OXFORD & LINCOLN PACE
ULTIMATE COUNSEL - over-raced early stages.
KUSHITE WARRIOR - broke at the start hampering trailing runners losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Stewards lodged a protest against 4th placing being awarded under Rule 870(3) and the Breaking Horses Regulation alleging the mare had broken in excess of 150m in the early stages. Connections did not contest the protest and KUSHITE WARRIOR was disqualified by Stewards.
NOT OVER - raced wide early.
HERE'S JOHNY - hampered by a breaking runner and paced roughly shortly after the start.
STYLISH LUSTRE - raced wide early.
PLAYING WITH STARS - hampered by a breaking runner at the start. Raced wide from the 1100m.
ROCKCENT - broke briefly at the start losing ground. Placed on the unruly for future standing starts.
Race 8   KAIAPOI CLUB & THE GARRICK AT THE W.W.M.C. MOBILE PACE
MOTOR MOUTH - weakened over the concluding stages. When questioned regarding the performance driver A Cameron advised she was disappointed and was unable to provide any explanation.
EVIDENTLY - over-raced early stages.
ACENTO - raced wide early.
BETTERWITHBLING - held up final bend.
Following this race the track was upgraded to Good.
Race 9   HORNBY CLUB HANDICAP TROT
BEVRON - broke rounding the first bend losing ground. Authorisation of 4th placing was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation in the early stages.
JUST EASY - stood on the mark losing ground hampering a trailing runner.
SWITCH ON - broke shortly after the start losing all chance.
SILVERLININGS - hampered at the start. Broke near the 200m losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare.
Race 10   THE PAPANUI - FOUNDERS CAFE PACE
JOHNNY ARMA - shifted outwards passing the 70m hampering an outside runner.
EDICT - broke at the start losing ground. Hampered when an inside runner shifted outwards passing the 70m.
ART JORDAN - held up throughout the run home.
FESTUS HAGGEN - had difficulty obtaining clear racing room throughout the run home.
MIKI BROWN - raced three wide from the 900m.
DOCTOR TIM - broke at the start losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
RAPID RESPONSE - raced greenly rounding the final bend and struck a track marker after the removable deafeners were activated.
RAKNRUIN - broke briefly at the start losing ground.
ANYTIME AT ALL - raced three wide from the 900m and four wide from the 700m.
MY WINGMAN - broke at the start losing all chance. Placed on the unruly for future standing starts.
Race 11   ASHBURTON MSA & SUPER LIQUOR MOBILE PACE
HI HOPES - held up early in the run home.
