Race 1   BORDER FENCING SERVICES HANDICAP TROT
The start was delayed at the first attempt due to LORD POPINJAY breaching the 35m barrier despite the efforts of Driver M Ranger. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier manners. A false start was declared at the 2nd attempt due to the 20m barrier failing to release. The start was further delayed after COURMAYEUR reared and fell to the track with this runner declared a late scratching at 5.17pm on veterinary advice. A warning was placed on the mare's barrier manners. There was an additional delay at the request of the TAB with the race eventually being run approximately 10 minutes after the scheduled start time.
MAGIC DASH - Driver C Hackett reported that the near side sliding blind failed to activate.
COURMAYEUR - declared at a late scratching at 5.17pm. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a minor abrasion above the right eye.
Race 2   NEXT GEN: OWN THE THRILL MOBILE PACE
IRON MIKE TYSON - broke approaching the 200m checking a trailing runner losing all chance. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners.
SAMMY LINCOLN - checked entering the first turn and broke before locking wheels with an outside runner but soon settled.
ABMAN - raced wide without cover from the 1300m when unable to secure the position outside the leader which was being held by MERLE MARY. Weakened in the run home.
EVERNDEN - shifted in entering the first turn checking and then locking wheels with SAMMY LINCOLN. Driver T Cameron admitted a charge under Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly in this incident. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $250. Raced wide with cover from the 1300m. Lay in rounding the final turn when attempting to improve wide.
ONEDARKNIGHT - broke in the score up and was back from position at dispatch. Continued to pace roughly after the start losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier manners. Lay in contacting a track marker near the 950m. Weakened rounding the final turn.
I'M TRUE ENOUGH - raced wide with cover from the 1200m. Checked by a breaking runner near the 200m losing its chance.
The track was downgraded to Slushy following this event with Trainers directed to affix mudguards to their sulkies.
Race 3   THE ALEX BAR & EATERY - METRO PACING HEAT 1 MOBILE PACE
FIFTH AND FINAL - weakened late in the run home.
AMARETTO DELIGHT - weakened late in the run home.
Race 4   HYRDOFLOW - METRO TROTTING HEAT 1 HANDICAP TROT
MISS BEBE - slow to begin after the front barrier failed to clear fully.
VISCOUNT MACKENDON - lost ground rounding the first turn. Unable to hold the back of the leader passing the 1800m which enabled EYRE I WILL to shift down to fill that position. Lay in contacting a track marker approaching the 1200m. Lay in again contacting a further track marker near the 900m.
PLAY FAST AND LOOSE - trotted roughly passing the 400m losing ground. Weakened final turn.
FATHER BARRY - pre-race warmed.
VORONOV - slow early.
HAYLEY MHOR - broke at the start losing all chance and was retired from the event.
JASINOVA - broke shortly after the start losing ground. Weakened final turn.
SANTAPAZIENZA - weakened final turn.
EYRE I WILL - lay in contacting and dislodging a track marker approaching the 1200m.
Following this event Starter F Phelan was spoken to in relation to the front barrier failing to clear and undertook to rectify the situation.
Race 5   FROCKS AT THE TROTS 27 FEB - METRO PACING HEAT 2 MOB PACE
PRINCESS LISA - lay in contacting track markers near the 300m.
BILLY THE KID - pre-race warmed. Trainer J Young was warned for presenting the gelding with removable deafeners which had not been notified with this gear being removed prior to the start.
AMAZING CAPTAIN - lay in contacting track markers near the 300m.
IN THE SUMMERTIME - back from position at the candy pole despite the efforts of Driver T Herlihy. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier manners. Weakened in the run home.
TASI AHNAU - lay in contacting track markers near the 300m. Weakened in the run home.
Race 6   LONE STAR ALEXANDRA PARK - METRO TROTTING HT 2 TROT
HELSINGOR - broke near the 1450m losing all chance.
HILLBILLY - pre-race warmed. Lost ground rounding the first turn. Driver E Johnson reported that she did not activate the removable deafeners due to having the field covered.
YUROK - weakened rounding the final turn.
WYNBERG JANIE - late scratching at 6.38pm due to the change in track conditions.
I'LL CALL YOU - broke approaching the 1650m losing ground. Broke again near the 200m losing its chance.
SANINARMBRO - over-raced middle stages.
ROYAL SECRET - broke at the start losing considerable ground. Broke near the 1400m losing its chance.
BRASS RAZOO - lay in contacting track markers near the 1250m. Driver N Chilcott was warned for driving with her right foot free of the sulky foot rest over the initial 500m.
Race 7   BRECKON FARMS YOUNG GUNS 2YO C & G HEAT 1 MOB PACE
SOUTHEND ON SEA - this gelding was the only runner to be fully in position at dispatch. Lay in contacting track markers near the 250m with one marker being dislodged.
THREE BAGS FULL - Trainer N Purdon was issued a warning for being late to notify drivers for his runners in this event. Broke approaching the first turn hampering a trailing runner losing ground before settling at the rear.
JOLI GARCON - broke shortly after the start losing ground.
DONTGETMESTARTED - hampered by a breaking runner entering the first turn. Driver B Wilkins was warned for the manner in which she drove entering the front straight to receive the bell when shifting ground inwards which resulted in JOLI GARCON being taken down into the passing lane. Paced roughly passing the 150m having to be steadied.
Race 8   WELCOME TO THE FAMILY MRS MOONEY MOBILE PACE
TYSON - Co-Trainers R Green and N Delany were issued a warning for presenting the gelding to race without the notified blinds. Raced wide for a distance during the middle stages before being restrained to the rear.
SPIRITUAL BLISS - fell to the track on pulling up after tipping Driver H Orange from the sulky but was immediately attended to by the crash crew and veterinarian. This mare then got away from the attendants after having the sulky and harness removed due to the bridle coming off when being restrained. SPIRITUAL BLISS was subsequently caught by attendants at the birdcage gates and found not to have sustained any injury in this incident after a veterinary examination. Driver H Orange was examined by St John personnel and cleared of injury.
