Race 9 - KUBALA SEEDS MOBILE PACE
Stewards questioned driver M Williamson (SOUTHSIDE OF HEAVEN) regarding an incident near the 650m when his runner struck the sulky wheel of NEK DELIGHT, where it was established that Mr Williamson had the opportunity to shift away from the weakening HERB however had then become awkwardly placed on the back of NEK DELIGHT due to an easing of the pace.

Race 1   PRESIDENTS MOBILE PACE
EYES OF AN ANGEL - over-raced middle stages causing driver C Dalgety difficulty.
KENSINGTON MIKE - co-trainers S and A Telfer were issued with a warning for presenting the gelding with removable deafeners which were not notified. Broke after 100m losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
PACIFIC THUNDER - raced wide early. Hampered by a weakening runner final bend.
CLAP FOR THE WOLFMAN - raced wide early. Weakened from the 900m. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be making abnormal respiratory noises.
HUGHES TWO ME - lay inwards near the 1500m striking track markers. Weakened final bend hampering a trailing runner.
CHEEKY JOE - raced greenly shortly after the start and broke after 150m when awkwardly placed to the inside of CEE WHATABET, losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
Race 2   SOUTHERN HARNESS TROT
MISTER - weakened final bend.
PAT BENATAR - weakened final bend.
LORDE FRANCO - broke shortly after the start losing ground. Trotted roughly at various stages. Authorisation of this runner's 4th placing was withheld until Stewards had reviewed the footage and were satisfied the mare had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation shortly after the start.
Race 3   DAVID HEFFERNAN FILLIES & MARES MOBILE PACE
MISS WOODVILLE - raced wide early.
IAMTHECAPTAINNOW - held up throughout the run home. Driver J Cox advised he did not activate the removable deafeners or sliding blinds in consequence.
GLIDING SKY - trainer D Gillespie was issued with a warning for being late to notify the filly would race with blinds and no whip. Raced wide early. Weakened final bend.
Race 4   OAMARU MEMBERS MOBILE PACE
JUKEBOX GYPSY - held up rounding the final bend and throughout the run home.
PLAYING WITH STARS - raced wide early.
SIDOROVA - had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the middle stages of the run home.
BETTERTHANDIVA - connections reported the mare would be racing in foal. Held up rounding the final bend. A post-race endoscopy detected a degree of internal exercise-induced pulmonary haemorrhage (EIPH). Stood down for the mandatory period of 30 days with connections advised a veterinary clearance including the results of an endoscopic examination prior to completing a satisfactory trial would be required prior to the mare resuming.
KELTIC TIGER - when questioned regarding the improved performance driver S Thornley advised he believed the gelding had benefitted from the addition of sliding blinds for the first time.
SHE'S A MAJOR ACT - over-raced middle stages. Held up final bend and early stages of the run home.
Race 5   SCOTT ELLIFFE JUNIOR DRIVERS TROT
HE AINT FAKIN - broke then paced at the start losing ground.
KISS ME KATE - broke at the start losing all chance.
MODE - weakened final bend.
SILVESTER - broke rounding the final bend losing its chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
HARRIET'S MOMENT - reared then backed away prior to the start losing considerable ground. Authorisation of placings was withheld until Stewards reviewed the footage of the start and declared HARRIET'S MOMENT a late scratching under Rule 213(1)(e) due to unsatisfactory manners prior to the start. Stood down to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on one occasion from a standing start prior to resuming.
Race 6   OAMARU HRC COMMITTEE HANDICAP PACE
BAUTISTA - shifted outwards after the barriers were released checking an outside runner. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
SWEET TARTAN - checked and broke at the start losing ground.
ROCKCENT - broke at the start losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
FOLIEJON STAR - broke briefly at the start.
WAIKAKA - broke briefly shortly after the start.
SEASIDE POND - broke briefly shortly after the start.
PURE COURAGE - broke at the start losing ground.
CLASSIE LINC - over-raced middle stages.
Race 7   LIFE MEMBERS TROT
BIRSTALL BABE - briefly locked sulky wheels with ARDEN SOLITAIRE near the 2100m. Lay inwards over the concluding stages.
ARDEN SOLITAIRE - lay inwards near the 2100m and briefly locked sulky wheels with BIRSTALL BABE checking a trailing runner.
NOBILO - trotted roughly in the run home and was unable to be fully driven out by driver S Hill. Following the race Mr Hill requested to view the footage of the final straight after BIRSTALL BABE had lay inwards, however after viewing the replays he elected not to proceed with a protest against 2nd placing being awarded to BIRSTALL BABE.
THE WILL - checked and broke near the 2100m losing ground.
TETRICK(AUS) - pre-race warmed. Raced wide early.
MY BONNIE LASS - slow over the early stages.
GASHERBRUM - raced wide early and middle stages. Weakened final bend.
JOANY BABY - raced wide early.
Race 8   MATTHEW WILLIAMSON RACING STABLES MOBILE PACE
JAZZYS UPSTART - held up rounding the final bend.
SALUTE - briefly raced wider on the track near the 1400m when RIGHTAZZ shifted outwards. Stewards investigated a perceived breach of the Push Out Rule at this stage of the race, however after reviewing the footage it was established that driver B Williamson (RIGHTAZZ) had commenced his outwards shift prior to SALUTE reaching his sulky wheel, accordingly no further action was taken. Raced greenly near the 900m.
Race 9   JANUARY HANDICAP TROT
JACCKA BAYLIS - hampered near the 1200m.
TORQUAY STREET - raced wide early.
WHISPERING OVER - raced greenly near the 1200m when attempting to lead and shifted out hampering a trailing runner, then continued to race greenly thereafter losing its chance.
FLORENCE THE MACHINE - broke at the start losing ground.
PYRAMID ROSE - lay inwards and struck a track marker near the 1500m. Over-raced middle stages.
Following this race the track conditions were downgraded to Easy.
Race 10   WAIKOUAITI GRASS TRACK HERE 1ST FEBRUARY MOBILE PACE
ULTIMATE PERFECTION - over-raced early stages.
FOX TERROR - raced wide early. Forced to race wide from the 700m. Weakened from the 600m.
JACK'S EYRE - held up final bend.
