Pre-race blood testing was carried out.

Immediately following the running of Race 9 the main stand fire alarm activated with patrons being evacuated. A thorough inspection by Club Officials failed to detect the presence of fire with the last race being run as scheduled. The Club will follow up with the alarm provider subsequent to the meeting.

Race 1   ALABAR HANDICAP TROT
BUYNOWPAYLATER - broke at the start losing considerable ground. Weakened in the run home.
TIKI - lay in and contacted track markers near the 700m.
MECHANICA - broke shortly after the start losing all chance.
SENIOR CONSTABLE LIZ - broke approaching the 250m losing ground. Authorisation of this runner's 3rd placing was withheld until Stewards had reviewed the footage and were satisfied the mare had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation. Lay in over the final stages.
JOE KENNEDY - Driver S Abernethy briefly dropped his left foot from the sulky footrest rounding the first turn. Mr Abernethy was warned for half-carting approaching the 1000m. Broke near the 500m losing all chance.
SKEE PRINCESS - the 30m barrier failed to clear this runner however Driver T Hall advised that the mare's chances had not been materially affected. Broke near the 700m losing all chance. A final warning was placed on the mare's racing manners.
Race 2   TOMMO'S TYRES MOBILE PACE
EASTWOOD ADMIRAL - raced erratically in the score up hampering a trailing runner. Had to be steadied approaching the first turn when TUAREG crossed down onto the leader's back. Over-raced middle stages.
RASMUSSIN EFFECT - lay in rounding the first turn and again near the 400m when attempting to shift wider on the track before racing in restricted room briefly. Had some difficulty obtaining clear running early in the home straight.
MAGIE DO - underwent a pre-race Veterinary examination due to not having raced for a considerable period of time and was cleared to start.
TUAREG - over-raced middle stages.
WHITEBAIT BOY - back from position at dispatch despite the efforts of Driver P Ferguson. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier manners.
RUN BLAZE RUN - hampered in the score up. Raced over a track marker entering the first turn.
Race 3   AUTO SUPER SHOPPE HAWERA MOBILE PACE
GWENDOLINE MARY - weakened in the run home.
DREAM ON LOU - lay in on straightening for the run home and had to be corrected.
PASS CODE - weakened in the run home.
MARIA KIRILENKO - lay in and contacted a track marker entering the first turn.
THE ELITE ATHLETE - underwent a post-race Veterinary examination which revealed no abnormality.
Race 4   TURF WORKZ/BAKER TILLY STAPLES RODWAY TROT
SCOOTS - lay in and contacted a track marker near the 700m.
ORDAINED - broke briefly at the start. Weakened late in the run home.
EAGLE HANOVER - broke shortly after the start losing ground. Placed in restricted room near the 850m.
HIGHVIEW ROCKN ROLL - Driver K Coppins was warned for the manner in which she shifted ground near the 850m which placed inside runners in restricted room briefly.
PAT YATES - broke entering the first turn losing ground. Broke again near the 1650m losing all chance.
TINKERBELLE - broke shortly after the start losing all chance.
KINK - broke shortly after the start but soon settled.
CONRAD H - reared in the pre-race formation and fell to the track before immediately regaining its feet. Reared again and fell to the track when called into line and was declared a late scratching by order of Stewards at 1.16pm. Underwent a Veterinary examination which revealed no abnormality. Placed on the Unruly for future standing starts.
AND REMEMBER ME - placed in restricted room near the 850m having to be steadied. Weakened in the run home.
KENNY HILL - cleared from the Unruly for future standing starts.
CRAZY - pre-race warmed. Slow early. Lost ground rounding the first turn and trailed the field thereafter. When questioned regarding the performance Trainer/Driver T Hall stated that the gelding had failed to handle the track when struggling to find its rhythm in what was its first race on grass.
Race 5   REVELL DOUGLAS MEMORIAL JUNIOR DRIVERS HEAT 1 MOB PACE
JAHI - lay out throughout the running and in particular when weakening in the run home.
MELTON MOGUL - over-raced middle stages.
Race 6   ROWAN FARMS/DUNSTAN FEEDS MOBILE PACE
RUTHERFORD - raced over track markers entering the first turn. Over-raced middle stages. Held up from the 150m.
RHAEGAL - when questioned regarding the performance Driver H Orange stated that the gelding had been required to work early to find the lead and had not steered well on occasions during the running. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. Trainer J Gommans reported he would be making gear changes.
MAJOR NIGHTMARE - checked by a breaking runner rounding the first turn losing ground. Paced roughly for several strides near the 500m.
CANDY GIRL - Driver P Ferguson reported the removable deafeners failed to activate despite his efforts.
VISCOUNT BANNER - checked by a breaking runner rounding the first turn losing ground.
FREDDY'S BOY - broke when being steadied off the back of RUTHERFORD rounding the first turn when there was an easing of the pace, checking trailing runners. Weakened in the run home.
Race 7   LAURENCE & AVIS FLEMING MEMORIAL HANDICAP TROT
NAZARETH - raced over track markers entering the first turn and then broke losing all chance.
WESTAR MILLY - broke briefly at the start. Lay in and contacted a track marker entering the first turn. Checked by a breaking runner near the 800m and broke losing all chance.
HIGHER POWER - contacted track markers when leading near the 1300m. Driver C Hackett was issued with a warning. Broke passing the 800m when leading when appearing to shy, checking trailing runners and lost all chance. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners. Co-Trainer B Purdon advised that he would be considering a gear change for the second day.
TRIPPY TYRON - checked by a breaking runner near the 800m. Lay out near the 400m despite the efforts of Driver M Hay.
FORGIVENESS - checked by a breaking runner near the 800m.
SON OF PATRICK - broke at the start losing all chance. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier manners. Co-Trainer D Balle reported he would be making gear changes for the second day.
PREMIUM PLAYER - checked by a breaking runner near the 800m and broke losing all chance.
MANCHESTER IN TIME - weakened final turn.
HALBERG - checked by a breaking runner passing the 800m having to take evasive action.
JOHNNY WHO - checked by a breaking runner passing the 800m having to take evasive action.
Race 8   DAIRY TECHNOLOGY SERVICES HAWERA CUP HCP PACE
BETA PREPARE - paced roughly near the winning post on the first occasion and then again entering the first turn. Paced roughly on a further occasion passing the 150m.
DOUBLE TIME - broke for several strides at the start.
Race 9   CARRFIELDS LIVESTOCK/PALAMOUNTAINS MOBILE PACE
CAPTAIN ZENZI - broke briefly in the score up. Placed in restricted room by an outside runner entering the first turn. Hampered by an easing of the pace near the 1400m and broke after contacting the sulky of WHO'S YOUR DRAGON but soon settled.
WHO'S YOUR DRAGON - Driver M Hay is to be spoken to in relation to the manner in which he shifted ground entering the first turn which placed an inside runner in restricted room. Briefly hampered near the 1400m when there was an easing of the pace.
BIG GEE - briefly hampered near the 1400m when there was an easing of the pace. Over-raced middle stages.
RUN MASON RUN - lay in and contacted track markers entering the first turn. Checked passing the 1400m when there was an easing of the pace.
GOORAMBAT ART - lay out and raced ungenerously approaching the 1400m causing an easing of the pace with trailing runners being hampered to varying degrees. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners. Continued to lay out when leading and in particular rounding the final turn.
NELSON'S BOY - paced roughly early and then broke approaching the first turn losing all chance. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners.
Race 10   SILVER FERN FARMS/FARMLANDS HAWERA JNR DRIVERS MOB PACE
EDDIE OSEI - over-raced middle stages. Weakened in the run home.
ALWAYS B SWEET - over-raced middle stages.
TWO JULES - raced wide early. Broke near the 400m losing its chance. A warning was placed on the mare's racing manners.
